If you want someone to exercise with, take a walk! You always meet other walkers. Say hi and try to get to know them. Maybe you'll find someone also looking for a walking buddy.

See, if I had a dog I'd be set. There's no way that I would not take my dog for a walk! That's just cruel! It would be an excellent motivator for me too, but I can't have a dog here, so that'll have to wait until we buy a house.

Also Im slowly trying to wake up earlier and earlier every morning so I get into the habit of giving myself enough time in the morning, and once it is a habit then Id like to start walking or something in the morning, even going to the gym again. Today I was awake 1/2 hour earlier than I normally am, and actually got up about 20 minutes earlier than I normally do.

A good safe place to walk is at a high school track. It is out in the open and usually there are other people walking there, too. You might have to try a few different times of day to find the best group of people to match your age and walking style. My husband likes to walk early in the morning when all the "old people" like him like to walk. LOL wink

Another suggestion for a safe walking place is the mall. They actually open early for walkers (although they are usually our age, but that can be fun, too) laugh Rosie, this will actually help get you motivated, once you start walking "outside" you will begin to have GOOD endorphins giving you more energy! Lala, use the extra time you have in the morning to start walking with your husband, like you used to do a few years ago! It will be fun! smile And the air and flowers will smell so good now since you don't smoke! Congratulations!! laugh

It's funny that you say that Trish, about the flowers smelling good because just the other day I walked to my dentist and for most of the way there I was on this trail and all I could smell was nice fresh smelling flowers... I dont remember smelling them like that before!

Rosie, Depression does run in my family. I would not be surprised if I am affected by it, although I've never been diagnosed with anything before. I was depressed from the ages of 13-18. And I think every once in awhile I slip into a mode of depression. That could very well be what takes away my motivation. I just keep trying though, to accomplish what I set out to do. Whether it takes 100 times of trying to get me there, or if I do it right the first time. I just keep trying, and I also remember not to beat myself up if I don't accomplish something right away. Im not perfect. And if I accomplished everything I wanted the first time I tried, every time, I dont think I would learn very much about myself, and life.

Lala, isn't it great to be able to smell the flowers and the scent of the countryside? Good for you with sticking with something until you get it done, no matter how long it takes. That's determination! wink
