I don't have a comment on whether or not she wants kids, etc. My comment is on the statistics. We seem overly concerned about statistics of all kinds, and I caution you to remember to always check sample size, sample mix, and control; not to mention what they are basing the statistic on.
I realize "statistics" say that women of a certain age have more birth defects, problems, etc but I have to say that chatting with hundreds of women from all backgrounds and walks of life during my last pregnancy really opened my eyes to just how common problems are. And it wasn't the older ladies who had the problems, it was the younger women. In my first hand experience, more younger women had miscarriages, downs babies, babies with heart problems to such a degree that they needed heart surgery at birth. Lots of things. The older women seemed for the most part fine. And for the record, if your friend really doesn't want children then she's playing roulette now because women get pregnant in their 40s all the time and I know more than a few who initially thought they were in menopause before discovering it was pregnancy.
I don't know everyone's background, but I remember from a psych class I took once that the instructor wanted to impress on us how unimportant statistics are and told us of a case in a town in England where they published a study that found crimes committed by women had increased 500%. OMG, 500%! Sounds insane until you actually look at the numbers and find out that it was 1 20 years ago and 5 now = 500% (this was about 10 years ago).
So, just be careful when looking at those, they are games to make us come to incomplete conclusions.
