My daughter and her boyfriend were fortunate enough to witness what I think is a rare site. Three pileated woodpeckers, all together on the same tree. They got some pretty good pictures, but without a web site of my own, I don't think I can post them here. I'm thinking it may have been a "family". I've only seen one pileated, ever ...they aren't that common in my area. Our plan is to go back to that site and search around for them again, armed with the cameras, just for the experience.

Just wanted to share that with you.

Joanne, how fortunate to see three. Pileated woodpeckers are so extraordinary. We had a pair early in the spring but once the suet was gone so were they. If you put suet out perhaps they will hang around and then you can get photos.

That sounds great!!

There are tons of free websites out there like geocities, and depending on who you connect to the net through, most ISPs also give you free web space Are you with a big site like AOL or Earthlink?

Lisa...I'm with AOL. and you know what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks... ..I'd be a nursing home by the time I learned how to set up a web site...lol. I did buy a digital camera though, and we're having a good time with it.

Angie...I only wish the woodpeckers were in my yard. They were actually at a State Park, not too far away but not handy to get at every day either.

Hey, if you have a digital camera, you have most of the work done! You can make a JPG image file of the picture, right?

Check your AOL system, they have an easy home page builder built into it. Your first step is to try to just put *anything* on your homepage. What is your AOL screen name? You should be able to just put "hello" on your webpage pretty easily. See if you can do that Then we'll work on the image part.

OK, Lisa...now I'm interested.. ..I'll have to check into your idea and see what I can do. Having a "home page" isn't the same as having a "web site", is it??

Hi, on AOL your home page is your website. I have pages on AOL also. They have Easy Designer and other easy to set up wizards that will walk you through setting up your homepage.

Good luck.

Yup exactly. Your AOL home page is then visible to the entire web as a regular website. We'll help you out if you get stuck!

OK Lisa...I think I did it. I'm just going to put a link here to my home page. I'll work on learning how to post pictures from it next.

Thanks so much for your help and encouragement...(there may be hope for me yet )

I'll try that again...

If this still doesn't come out right, could you give me some directions. First time, I typed it and highlighted it before I did the UBB for URL. The second time, I just clicked on URL and typed it into the box. Please bear with me here...lol

Joanne
