I think my mom used to sew empire waist tops and sundresses for me when I was a kid...of course I was a flat chested little kid then, and under age ten, so I didn't have to worry about the preggers look! LOL!

I was shopping at Macy's today and had a talk with the cashier about this empire waist issue making everyone think we're pregnant. It was SO HARD to find ANYTHING but those kinds of tops. It's ridiculous. Now not only am I lost adrift in the department-that-does-not-exist somewhere between Juniors and Matrons, but now everything looks like maternity wear.

Well, the cashier agreed, and said she's received tons of complaints. She's been lodging complaints with the higher ups about it. Revolution is coming people!!

Frieda,

Do you have a "Christopher and Banks" store near you? They are great for those of us between "Juniors and Matrons", LOL! They have clothes that aren't skin-tight but look nice, are of good quality and reasonably priced. I've found lots of good outfits there, and they have more to choose from than the "maternity tops". My 61 year old mom shops there too, but she's not a "matronly" dresser, she likes fun, colorful clothes and finds those types of things there.

I also like to shop at Kohls, but they do have lots of "maternity tops" there right now. That's where I tried some on and rejected them all.

Just bought some last night that I thought looked less maternity-like. I put one on, DH teased "are you pregnant?" - I put the next one one and he said "with twins?" Okay, I get it. I should have known better - big bust + tummy pudge = bad. But yeah, you just CAN'T find anything else this year without looking like a grandma. Plus the ads all make them look so cute; granted they use anorexic models to achieve said cuteness. Still.
