Have you considered getting a tubal ligation ? This is where the doctor cuts your falliopian tubes and then ties them back together. I had mine done thirty years ago anf had no problem. They made an incision through my belly button and you can't even see it. I can wear a two piece bathing suit and you could never tell.
If you do this you can controll the descision. Men get squimish about their little friend. LOL
My husband had the snip ten years ago (five years before meeting me!). We discussed it on our first date (we'd done online dating and had been writing to eachother for quite some time first) --- it was all I could do to keep from jumping his bones right there in the restaurant!
No complaints, no side effects, and (if you test conscienciously afterward and take a few days off around the surgery to take it easy to allow for proper healing) no chance of it "growing back". 100% positive outcome, for us.
Linda, don't generalize too much about men! My DH has actually become something of a vasectomy info clearinghouse at his office (he's a city letter carrier). Two of his fellow carriers have had the snip too (post-fatherhood, unlike DH) and he talked 'em through their concerns. It's quite the fraternity they have. Interestingly, when people mention folks "going postal"...if you look at the history of it, it's usually clerks and people who work in the sorting plants. The actual letter carriers, from the dozens and dozens I've met, seem to be really happy folks...(well, except when it's sleeting outside and there's glare ice on the sidewalks).
