Oh dear, this poor woman has been tortured! Shock therapy is NOT an acceptable, or helpful way to treat DID! My God!!

If you can tell me what city she lives in, I'll see if I can find out the names of some good therapists who know what they're doing!

No, I wouldn't say similar... I would say exactly!
From myt own personal point of view, I do make sincere efforts to implement the teachings of the Eightfold path, The two first "signposts" or recommendations, being Right View and Right Intention.... Then come Right Speech and Right action...although these "Right" pointers might seem sequential, they re-act and inter-act with one another so that in essence, they are inseparable... Right Effort is also in there, along the line....

'Right Effort' though, is all very well, but I guess, as with everything and with everyone, I don't always get it right - ! I personally would think, from my perspective, there is more harm and hurt caused by somebody being deliberately hurtful, tactless and insensitive, than from someone who is truly well-intentioned, and is in their own way trying to help.

So yes, the ripples in the pond do spread, and swell outwards... but eventually, one would hope the water clears and calms again.

Things only remain in a turmoil if people keep throwing pebbles and perpetuating the ripples.

Are subsequent ripples, caused by the pebbles of others, still the fault of the original pebble-thrower? frown

I think if one pebble is throw the reaction you have is your responiblity but when rocks and stones are thrown over and over again into a person like trash in a can the throwers are responsible for the reaction of the other and so is that person!

lets say some one calles me a stupid and I let it make me angery and lash out then It is my fault that I lashed out I could have controled my reaction and walked away.
but is everyone called me stupid day in and day out and treated me like I was stupid and I tried to better myself and learn act or do better in there sight and they still call me stupid then it is there fault I lash out or stop trying and become stupid! and it is my fault because I chose to react that way.

one pebble into a pond makes a little ripple; but a landslide causes a Titale wave!!!

Just my thoughts

That reminds me of the saying 'water under the bridge' - but as someone once pointed out to me, that water still flows on, and touches many banks along its way back to the sea. That made me sit up and think!

Interesting.

Loads of water analogies in Life, which I think may stem partly from the fact that it's the bringer of Life...? Maybe?

"Go with the flow...." "Still waters run deep", "Jumping in at the deep end"..."testing the depth of the water with both feet"....many others, I'm sure.

And who was it who said:
"A man can never look at the same river twice...."?
That is one of my favourites.

I also like Air and Wind phrases like:

Tosed like a leave in the wind Winds of change Stormy times and Air head and 3 sheets in the wind head in the clouds!!!

then ther are the earth phases like shes down to Earth solid as a rock heart of stone sands of time
