After seeing these arguments play out... might I suggest that you (Linda) look at my TOS/Rules of Conduct and think about adopting them.

While this is the spiritual forum, I find this vicious circle happening, expecially in this topic and with a certain person.

People need to realize there are forums for people with similar interests to talk together. These forums aren't meant for people with opposing viewpoints to come in and tell people they are going to hell, they are an abonimation, etc etc etc when it doesn't fit the forum or the conversation. My opinion is that if you are not open to a different or opposing viewpoint then do not go to that forum. I am a Reform Jew and Gay, I don't go to the christianity forum or the hetero relationships forum because those do not pertain to me. They may have opposing viewpoints. I come to places like spirituality and new age in addition to pagan to discuss the different topics that I am open to... not opposed to. My place here isn't to constantly be at odds with someone and cause people to have to put me on ignore.

Linda, feel free to delete this post, but I wanted to point this out.

Hi Jase... This forum creates an interesting dilemma actually. Because it is spirituality it encompasses all the beliefs and religions out there basically. And, I have to admit that some of my own posts have been controversial to say the least.. In fact, I have had a few Christians PM me and tell me that they feel that my anti-Christian attitude is an affront to them and that I am picking primarily on them.

So, in all fairness if Jesusfreak or Texasdave or any other fundamentalist posts here I don't feel justified in telling them that they have to leave just because I don't happen to agree with their beliefs.

To them, their beliefs are as valid as yours or mine. As a Unitarian Universalist I abide by the principles.. the main one being to respect and honor the inherent worth of every human being.

So, I really can have rules for posting.. except that I will not allow profanity, pornography or abusive language. And, I have to say that Jesusfreak has not violated that policy, nor did Texasdave. I admit that I consider them to be somewhat overbearing, but I also think that perhaps they are learning something while they are here.

Several Fundamentalist Christians will not post in this forum anymore because I think maybe the discussions were beginning to make TOO much sense to them..lol.

Ignoring people with totally opposing viewpoints to your own does not make them go away.. it only increases their desire to find another way to "get under your skin."

Eventually, when noone gets "saved" they go away on their own.

This is not to say that I am anti-Christian.. I am not. My mother was a quiet, reserved, and extremely devout and compassionate Christian. She also had the grace and ability to understand other points of view.. otherwise she and my Pagan father would never have stayed happily married for over 50 years.

And, in all the time that she walked this Earth, she never felt the need to "save my soul."

There are those among us who need a Deity to depend upon and those of us who do not. There are those of us who believe that they need a savior and those of us who do not..

Noone is right or wrong.. it is all a matter of opinion.

But, thanks for the concern.. it is noted, respected and honored.

JesusFreak.. Let's go through this one more time shall we? I will not be kneeling before anyone. If you are praying for me it is against my free will and you are in violation of a spiritual law. And, no amount of prayer will make me become as close minded and arrogant as you are.

But, in spite of it all... I love you.

Thanks Freebubbles.. You are a Christian and I don't have a problem with you at all. I find you to be a delightfully open free spirit who has an open mind and an open heart..:}

oh i am not saying they be kicked out, I am saying that there is a point when you just keep going in circles and it's just no longer worth trying to fight those who are open.

LOL

Ok time for a new topic!!! I think hurtful words has hit a dead end!! time for a revivel!!!

How about Comforting words?
I go first!!!

I always love it when some one says something like Your a good friend and I enjoy your company!!!

I also love words like Cute Pretty, BEAUTIFUL anywhere in a sentance with me in it that does not have NOT!! or you arent in it!!! lol

It brings me comfort and hope when people can talk and enjoy one another with out mudslinging and debating a topic to death and hurting the one around them untill they just agree with whatever you say and leave as fast as they can!!!

I love to hear people say I will agree to disagree and I understand and respect your view even if I dont feel or think the same way!!!

I also live to hear God Bless You or any well meaning phrase that equals have a happy day and live in peace!!!!

so with that said You are all BEAUTIFUL people Even if I dont always agree with everything you say and I am Honoured to read the post I can still read and I enjoy your friendship and company!!! God bless you all!!!
