OK, here is antother poll. FFX development team has put a lot of effort into making the characters have unique styles. CAREFUL, it doesn't mean what character you like most (it's for the vast majority, fans of Auron). Judge by the external appearance.

Actually I don't think of Auron as stylish. He's based on like 40 different 'normal samurai' characters in Japanese movies <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I do think of Lulu as stylish though, she has the most interesting outfit and the cool braid things.

Yes, Lulu would have to be my second choice. since I haven't seen too many Samurai movies, Auron's outfit stands out. Besides, it's not just his coat with golden ornament on the shoulder ... it's everything ... hair, scar, glasses, the way he carries his left hand. All that makes him very charismatic. So, just be the looks, to me he's the most "stylish".

Come On! Wakka is stylish, ya? I just love that head band and that cool front spikey bit of his hair, ya? also, his Blitzball outfit pretty cool, you have to admit, ya? <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
(I know you said to judge them from external but...) I reckon' his accent is cool too, ya? LoL!

Wakka always strikes me as an overgrown kid <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Like a big toddler that has his set ways and good intentions but sort of a "I hate spinach, spinach yucchy" mentality <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm thinking about Auron again. Usually I'm hugely into the quiet ranger type - Aragorn would be my ideal - so why does Auron feel different to me?

I guess part of it is his association with Jecht. Jecht was such a jerk. His arrogance and the way he mistreated his child. So having Auron hang out with him caused that "your friends reflect on your own judgement" thing. Also, while my typical heroes are strong and quiet but really care, Auron just didn't come across to me like someone who really cared. He more came across as a guy that came by because he had to, but not because he wanted to.

I wonder why he strikes me like that. Like I said, I've seen tons of samurai movies. I have a giant list of them here -

so the idea of a samurai in general appeals to me. There are many Auron-like characters out there like Yojimbo that appeal to me. But Auron seems to look down on the others and almost sneer at them in some scenes. He softens up a bit near the end but by then I'd already not really liked him. I can understand Tidus growing and learning - he's a teenager - but Auron's a middle aged man.

DON'T READ those, who haven't passed the game.

Auron sort of "hanged out" with Jekt, but he was always against him, and only obeyed the will of Braska to take him in. The young Auron seemed to be the sort of character who doesn't care what people say and to whom all the traditions and society status mean nothing (that "fighting monk warrio who rejected the hand of high priest's daughter" part, really tells it). That's regarding his relationship with Jekt.

As for the Jekt himself, he seemed a huge jerk to me at the beginning, but then, you can't blame the water of being wet. You can see, that it's his nature, not his bad heart. He is thery rude and rough, he doesn't know to show his feelings and when he tries it comes out as an insult of some sort. When he was mean to Tidus, always laughing at that he cries too much, he didn't really mean to laugh at him, he meant to make him more adult, a man who can face difficulties without always crying. He just couldn't find an appropriate way for that. At another scene, he is standing with Tidus's mother together, calmly talking about something. And then Tidus starts calling for his mom, but she doesn't want to go. Jekt doesn't tell her "Go and shut him up!", he softly tells her to go to be with Tidus, if not, he will cry, that also shows he cared a lot. There is more, in mny other scenes, Jekt is taking movies of interesting places, and when Braska and Auron ask him what for, he says "It's for my kid", he wanted to make him a present and he always was thinking of him. Finally, before turning into the final aeon, Jekt gave a speech about all that matters (that is his family, Tidus) is lost for him, he'll never see him again, that's why he wants to become the aeon, and he asked Auron to take care of Tidus, and thoughit was nearly impossible, since Tidus lived 10000 years ago, Auron without hesitations replied that he would, no matter what. I guess, all that makes Jekt the guy no so bad to hang out with.

Going back to Auron. He has been killed, and his soul had to suffer for ten years. He had to travel to the "old" Zanarkand and grow up Tidus, watch over him. He always meant only good for him. The fact that he sometimes seems annoyed, and doing something as if he was forced to, underlines that, he has had a very hard life, he is very tired, he doesn't want to talk much and he gets annoyed when he's asked about the past. He speaks rough, to avoid people from aking him more questions. He speaks only the very necessary things. He's full of wisdom, earned by his life and death, earned with blood of those he used to be friend of. He doesn't want to be here, that's right, he doesn't belong here, you can say that from his very final words. He belonged to the time when he was travelling with his friend Braska, and then Jekt also became closer to him. Auron is somewhat similar to Jekt in a way. He has hard times expressing his amotions. He hides his suffering behind silence and sometimes mean talking ... and behind his sunglasses. This isn't a trip of joy for him, this is another trip of suffering for him. A cuoles of times emotions did break through (at lady Yunalesca episode) and you could really tell that. Auron is a very complicated characer to judge him only by the way he seems to behave.

Well, that's my opinion. I hope I could get to you some of my thought through this rather long reply. I'm in no way am forcing my opinion into you, just look deeper into the water, to see the ground down beneath. Looking on its surface, makes false reflections to become the "truth".

hehehe auron is da best =). i love the way he says "farewell" or "enough" when da enemy is almost dead its reali cool. and on da blitzball in luca bit he sees dat big dinosuar thing and he puts his left arm out and dat loox realli cool =).

haha yeah i like wakkaz funky accent. but my sista hates him because he uses a ball to attack and my wakka takes off alot so she realli hates him hahaha. but still he got some spunk =)

But the onlly character i dont like is Tidus. his abilitiz arent very good and well i just dont like him =)

I agree Auron wasn't bestest buddies with Jecht, but they still appeared as friends, and really, it doesn't matter what Jecht though about what he was trying to do, his ways of doing it were just slimy. At the end of his life Jecht in essence says "I guess I'll be sin because I can't get back to destroy my child's life any more." I don't think that makes him much better <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> It's like one of those priests that abuses children, once he's caught, saying "Well maybe I'll go into a retreat now". If they had a choice, they'd still be hurting someone.

If you say Jecht is just a jerk because he's a jerk, then you could say that about anything and anyone. "He's just a bully and likes to hurt people and beat them up because he likes to bully people." Yeah, that doesn't make it a right thing <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Us humans choose what to be and how to be. If someone chooses to cause others pain, that's a choice they make, and it's not one to like ...

So in the same way, to say Auron is OK because he is what he is, doesn't make what is he a great thing <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> He's there because he felt honor bound to do what Jecht asked him, sort of like Obi Wan taking care of Annie because he was asked to, but not because he wanted to or cared at all ... He's an OK person, but he didn't learn much wisdom in life if his way of dealing with it is to be rude and semi-hostile in dealing with people who look up to him ...

What is this deal with everyone liking Auron, he's fricken annoying... I mean, throw me a fricken bone here! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Wakka and Lulu are my favourites, the both have cool outfits, Lulu's cool becuase she is just... Lulu and Wakka has a cool accent, so there!
