Happy, I could have written your post.

I prefer one-on-one time with friends to big parties.

My fiance and I both put great value on having couple time AND alone time. Having a kid around all the time would take away both.

I also could have wrote happy's post. It is so refreshing to be able to come here where there are others so much like myself. I felt for so long like I must be the only one out there who felt the way I do.

Absolutely my worst nightmare. When I read that, it makes me more determined than ever to stick to my stance, and it also makes me sad for how trapped she must feel. One very big and very permanent mistake. And you can bet she's not alone.

Yep, being different is tough. I'm learning to enjoy my different, though. Being strong enough to say "this is me, like it or lump it" is one of the things I admire most in my friends, and I hope that others will admire in me.

Greenblue: That is wonderful that you would have these those two conversations that literally "saved your life."

I had one with a friend who had adopted and I was starting the proecess of adopting and she mentioned that at least with marriage you can get a divorce, but you cannot divorce your children and it is a life-time comittment. That got me to thinking and the seeds of doubt were planted. She also told me that she pays $1,400/mo. for childcare and I thought there is no way in hell that I can afford to raise a child in Northern California.
