[quote=happytobechildfree]You mean Why Don't You Have Kids?, right, HTBCF? That's the book by Leslie Lafayette, right?
There are better, more recent books out there, but hers was one of the first. Gotta give her massive kudos for getting it published when she did (close to 20 years ago, I think?).
Yep, that's the one. I think it's pretty good. I have read some of the newer ones, too. The DeFago book, and a bunch of the other ones on Amazon - can't think of the names off the top of my head. But I'm curious, which ones did you really like? I can't stop reading about this! I guess it's my age, I'm 35 and really feeling all of this.
It's interesting, my therapist admitted in my last session that she went through this too, around my age. She's CF. It was weird and insightful to have her admit that, b/c she has given a subtle case for parenthood at different times.
She said she has pangs of regret at times, but overall is glad she doesn't have that responsibility. I reminded her that women with kids probably have those pangs, too.
It might sound strange, but I think I like her more because she doesn't have kids. I think she had the courage to stand up against the crowd. And it's in keeping with how she is in other aspects of her life. She's a true individual. She's a really cool person and therapist. I would totally hang out with her if she wasn't my therapist!
