So I geuss the better question is What would it take for you to believe Jesus is the Son of God? and that we should live by His example becaue that is the way God wants us to live?
I am happy to live by his example - that, being loving.
Basically I see all life as being a part of the Divine Love - whatever that might be. I don't like to try to define 'God' though, and tend to believe that the 'God Force' is like energy -and is present in everything. So I cannot believe that Jesus was the 'son' of some super entity. I do believe, however, that he manifested more of the Divine Love (the pure love which is the highest from of that creative energy) than perhaps any other person known to me.
For me to believe that he was the 'son of God' would first require me to believe that there is a God who is capable of impregnating a woman. This would mean this God was in a way, human or animal. I cannot believe that.
If God is an extra-terrestrial being, a creature with similar DNA to humans, then it could be possible, in my thinking, for him to be the father of Jesus. It might even be possible if God is a spirit being, with powers of reproduction - somehow yet unknown to us. But this is stretching my imagination to the limits!
And if I am judged and rejected because I have not believed, then that is OK too. I have no desire for eternal life in heaven. I don't even mind if I cease to exist after death. And if there proves to be a God, and he sends me to hell, then I sure wouldn't want to be where he is anyway.
I think I prefer to just wait and see.
With love,
Patience.
