We have a tree named Brad (he's a Bradford Pear) and one named Will (a Globe Willow). We're really creative, aren't we? LOL!

Too funny. You are both calling trees "he". Everyone at work teases me because I always refer to my plants as "he's" as well. lol.

Yeah, being a single parent can't be easy, and having a child just because I am afraid something might happen to my husband sounds a bit morbid. It's still something I think about. I mean, there are so many "what if" questions for either path I could take.

We named my car Clara Louise, after my long-deceased grandmother-in-law. She sounded really cool and I wish I had met her.

Maybe if you sat down and make a list of the pros and cons it would help you sort it out. Finding a neutral counselor to help would be a good idea too.

I know you are trying to do the right thing for your husband, but be sure you are doing the right thing for you too. And be sure it is the right thing for the potential third person in the mix, a baby who has no say in the situation, and deserves to have two parents who truly WANT a child, to nurture and raise into a contributing, responsible member of society.

That is what I am trying to figure out. Exactly what the right thing for me to do is. At least I still have time to figure this out. Just wish it didn't eat at me all the time. If I ever did have a child, no matter what, I could never blame an innocent child for my feelings. I know I would have to be a good parent. I just would really like to be more prepared myself for it if I go that route. Thanks for listening.

I always name my car by what the license plate letters look like they might spell. lol.

We took a long time choosing our cat's name. We wanted something that was just right for her. She ended up being called Lucy... on her vet records. At home she's known by numerous nicknames. The favorites are Beastie and Kitten Face.

My fiance's car is a Cavalier. If you've seen them, you've probably noticed how the front bumper sticks out kind of far. I told him his car had a severe underbite and now the car is known as "UGH the Neaderthal."

But I have most of my naming fun with my writing. Eventually, all the names I like that I would have given to my children (if I'd ever wanted any) will belong to my characters. I have a master list of favorite names and a small baby name book in my desk drawer just for naming fictional people.

So, obviously, I enjoy naming things. Doing silly stuff like nicknaming cars and pets, and using names I like in my writing gets it out of my system. Since I have these outlets, it's one less reason to consider having kids! :p

rns91924... "cute maternity outfits"??? Yikes. Maternity clothing and a huge belly are on my list of reasons NOT to get pregnant!
However, baby doll tops and dresses are "in" right now, so maybe you could just buy an outfit like that. :-)

I agree, naming pets is just as good, if not better than naming kids. And if you've seen the musical "Cats", you know that it is very important to give your pet a good name, so that they won't be embarrassed when they are interacting with other animals... (ex:"Fluffy" is kind of embarassing).
My current cat is named Remington (like Remington Steel - he's steel grey) - I wanted to make sure to give him a name he could be proud of having.

lol! We have a Mutsu apple tree we named Mr. Mutsu (pronounced with Japanese accent).

I have a couple of plants named Hubert and Sherman. I like goofy, old-fashioned names!
