I see them at PetSmart in my area Mel...the tanks and the light. This petSmart is in Manchester Conn. I wonder if they have a website you can email to them and ask them about it. The lights are kind of expensive though...about 25$. I've also seen them at PetCo.

Hope you find one..keep looking!

yes, EMG thank you. i have been to both site today searching but have only found at PetCo.com the glass lid.
good idea to email them though. doing that right now.
actually, at this time (unless a reader knows different) i have never a lighted hood for that size anywhere, not even the net. so, unless i build one myself which might cost more than the worth, i really don't mind paying $25 for a couple of those. if that's all i can get, that's all i can get. smirk

Nope..no go mel...so I'll give it to you here...hope I'm not breaking any rules....

Perfecto Mnfg. Inc.
P.O. Box 539
Noblesville, Ind.

There wasn't a zip code with that on the box...but I bet you could do a search and find a website for them and contact them that way.

Hope this helps!

Oh..and good news...they were only 14.99 at PetSmart!

Mel, I found the light strip you need.

Go to PetSmart's website and click on "fish" at the top of the page. Go to "lighting" which is on the left side of the page. Then go to "strip lights".
It's the first strip light listed on the page. I tried to link to that page, but the URL was so dang long that I couldn't get to the end of it...lol.

Anyhow...great news...if you order it direct...it's only $6.99 plus shipping costs...but I imagine with shipping it will still be way below 20$

Hope you find it ok...you may even be able to order a tank..if it doesn't get to you in one piece, you ship it back and they have to replace it.

I double checked the page Mel..and that price is without the lightbulb. But still, a good price I think.

So I have a silly question...other than plants and friends what sort of 'toys' do you put in your tanks for your bettas.
It's one of those random Q's you come up with while sitting in 5 o'clock traffic...

EMG, thanks alot!
funny thing, after posting that it dawned on me i saw somewhere around the house a company for this thing. 3 hours later i find it in the Sea Shelf (i confiscated one of my hubbies bookshelves and dubbed it that since i put all my frequently used fishy things).

so, i'm a dorkbut thanks alot for finding the the light strip, and i think they make short bulbs, so i'm O.K. with 'as is'.

and dang it! i'm still searching this Perfecto site for this tank. it must a secret treasue or something 'cuz they hid it good.

DANG!

i just came across this on Perfecto Manufacturing

"Can I buy direct from Perfecto?

Unfortunately, we do not sell direct to the public, with the exception of some replacement parts. We sell to distributors who then sell to retailers. If you are unable to find a retailer in your area, please contact us. We will be happy to give you the name of the nearest distributor. That distributor in turn can provide you with the names and locations of retailers in your vicinity."

poo poo.

"Can I put different light bulbs in my Perfecto/ODell light fixture?

In most cases, yes. When replacing bulbs, please be sure to purchase the same wattage bulbs that were originally in the fixture. Additionally, some bulbs of the same wattage can actually burn hotter than others. This can cause the ballast in the light to overheat. If you replace the bulb with that of another manufacturer and find that your light shuts itself off after a period of time, the ballast has overheated, and that bulb should not be used with the fixture. Please consult your dealer for specifics on lighting for your particular application."

guess that solves the missing bulb problem, eh!

Mel, I think these light fixtures take a 12inch florescent bulb...the 2 1/2 gallon tank light strip that is.

But I do just love it when manufacturers fix it so that you absolutely MUST buy any replacement parts from them...even something as common as a florescent light bulb...then they inflate the cost of that bulb since it's such a necessety. What REALLY takes the cake is when you can't buy direct from them..but..there is no dealer in your area..now THAT's just fantastic! These guys are geneouses!! Lol..
