My friend as FF8 and he says while it's not the best in the FF series, he is ADDICTED to the card game... of course, now that we're workin on FFX he's addicted to Blitzball (which I think is way to easy, even on manual). But, does anyone else besides me think that card game is not so great? It's kinda boring.

everyone puts down FF9, but let's give some credit to the squaresoft pple, ususally they would know better than that. i think in making the characters more "cartoony", they were just revisiting their roots, as most of the old final fantasies had pretty cartoony characters. I guess it just backfired on them, and as for the "pee jokes", i guess that's helped it backfire.

i'm sure they wouldn't have made a final fantasy just for kids, just an experiment gone wrong.

I registered just to be able to reply to this topic. FF8 (in my humble opinion) is still the greatest game ever, and the only game I was ever addicted to.

When i was playing I couldn't stop. When I was at work, I couldn't wait to get home just to see what would happen next. I have played FF7 en FF9 but stopped somewhere in the middle because I just don't have an emotional attachment to any of the figures. FFX...great game...nice graphics...but Tidus...puleeezzze. Throughout the game I started to agree with Jecht.

And Yuna. FF8 made the wise decision to make the character of the soon to be lover of the hero (Rinoa) better looking then the other females, but in FFX they unwisely abandoned this.

There was a moment in Guadosalam when I got a few reply choices for Tidus when talking to Lulu, and thought: "this might be going in the right direction!" but alas.

Nah...nothing can beat FF8 although I must admit that Blitzball is much better than the cardgame.

There is one sequence that I really liked in ff8, and it is always overlooked. It's the one where Squall releases Rinoa from the esthar seal. When she falls into his arms... no words, but the entire story has just changed! I love that part (hence my avatar) and hehe, we got you hooked enough to register lol

I started with FF7 and loved it... I played FF8 and thought it was the worst rpg ive ever played. I still do other than evolution for the dreamcast. The whole game is watching gf sequences over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over that u think it will never end. But, i did like graphics and was more serious much like FF7. I agree with ya auron... it sucked...

I must be the only player in the world who realized that you get more out of the game if you DON'T use gf's. The only time I use them is once in a GREAT while for boss fights.... and that's only if the boss is protected against normal attacks. Sorry, but you only have yourself to blame if you subjected yourself to hours of gf's I"m pretty sure that there is a why to cut out the gf sequence too... I just forgot what it was. oh well. Anyway, you see the gf's as much as you do in the other ff's. And really the story line is similar to most of the ffs. Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy saves world and either looses permanently or gets permanently girl. I know that's pretty simplistic.. but that is how most of the stories go, if you pare them down to the basics. Once you get into how the world is endangered, and the specifics of the characters, that's where the ff's differ. I think that the junction setup messed a lot of people up. It takes a while to understand how it really works. All in all, it's just like any other game, some people like it, some people hate it. It is not for us to decide how everyone should think you know.
