LOL - that is what my daughter's boyfriend said when he saw the steps I just finished building. My daughter looked at him kind of strange because she has always seen me building something and didn't find it unusual.

I'd love to be able to do more, but I don't have much of a selection of good tools, and advancing age has made knee bending and standing on a ladder a bit more difficult the last few years.

Hi Arcadia! Glad to meet you and would love for you to share any tips/advice or current projects you are working on. I think the more women share about their DIY projects, the more other women will realize it's not as intimidating as they think.

Connie & Mavis - I know what you mean. I have mostly sons and I still have to convince my family to let me do things w/o that "funny" look. Their friends are starting to get used to coming over here and seeing me pulling things apart or doing some new project, but I still get the surprised looks from time to time. I think it is a cultural mindset that is starting to change, tho. At least it is finally starting to in my family. One small step for women DIYers...one big step for mankind! LOL

My husband works so many hours that I have to do many different things for myself. One of my most unfavorite is to have to take the car in for repair or call the plummer. My husband always tells me it is good for me because when he is dead I will be able to take care of myself. One day I got to thinking and wondered who would help him if I go first because he is pretty helpless lol.

ROFL - Connie that made me laugh out loud. My husband said something similar once and I said..."what makes you think I'm going first?" LOL
