Point taken, but some server where I'm paying for food of my choice is not the same as a parent making the best nutrition choices for their child (many would survive on candy and chips if they were in charge).

Kids may not like it, but I've seen too many people making too many dinners because of picky/spoiled kids. I guess I'm just tired of hearing about kids running things. The parents I know are exausted from falling all over themselves pleasing their kids. I mean, making your kid eat his broccoli or skip dinner doesn't sound like the crime of the century, and maybe the kid would be less likely to refuse the food served in the future.

Anyway, no disrespect meant. I know I barged into a parenting forum, but I was just curious.

No, you didn't barge into a parenting forum - - just a forum about cooking for kids - - so a lot of us are parents here.

Sounds to me like the families you know need to try a different approach.

This site is not about *making* your kids eat anything. Parents and other caregivers inevitably have to spend more time in the kitchen regardless of whether they're there b/c their children don't want to eat what they've prepared or not. Kids just eat a lot. Perhaps your judgment of the parents you know is a tad harsher than it needs to be.

Survey the parents you know and ask them how many times a day their kid eats. I'll bet it's more than two or three times.

This site is not about parenting, it's about making the often-mundane task of food preparation easier.

It's about finding healthy, fun, and easy ways to prepare food for kids.

You are welcome to read and post here anytime. smile

Well said cookingforkids! You were much more diplomatic than I originally wanted to be!

I may have had some of the same feelings before becoming a parent as wel! However, I am a parent now and being that I started the whole mess of *masking veggies*...let me try to explain myself.
Cooking for little ones can often be exhausting! I find myself constantly trying to come up with new ideas to keep them happy and healthy. Have my children left the table hungry before??? YES! And they may do so several more times before they "get" that Momma's not cooking 4 separate meals! With that being said, I feel the same about having respect for your children. I feel they will return that respect which is why I don't slop a pile of spinach or brussel sprouts down on their plates every night knowing that it will cause them to turn their noses up! I try to come up with new and creative ways to allow them to eat things that are good for them yet still enjoy their food!
I may be rambling now...I got a little worked up over this one!
Hopefully this post will shed some light on my view on veggies!

Thanks to all of the others who offered very helpful advice...we are trying them all! ; )

Thanks everyone for being so nice. If I were a parent I'd be a bit of a hard-[censored]. Not sure if that would be a good thing or not smile Anyway, I'm glad you're making the effort to get the kids to eat vegetables. WAY too many kids are being grown on chicken fingers - yuck!

Good luck w/your veggies!
