Being solitary and being new to the path, I mostly rely on books for information. Some say one thing about Wicca, and then they will either contradict themselves or another book will and broaden the subject again.
So, are the two words different to you, and if so, how??
Generally Wicca refers to the religion and Witchcraft refers to the practice of spellcrafting, energy work etc.
So many Wiccans are indeed witches who practice witchcraft and the words Wiccan and Witch are often used interchangeably.
However, there are many witches who practice witchcraft and are not Wiccan, instead they may follow a different religion. One example of this is the Feri Tradition. They are a tradition of Witchcraft but they are not Wiccan.
And Wiccans tend to believe in the Goddess and God, the Wiccan rede, etc... Witches wouldn't have to have any specific beliefs about godesses or gods, correct?
I would say that all witches probably have beliefs around a higher power but not specifically Wiccan ones.
A lot of people feel that reclaiming the power of the word Witch is important to reduce the stigma that surrounds it, and so they identify as witches. I often identify myself that way a well.
