All I know is it was a big relief when I committed to a position (CF). Of course I'll never know if my life would've been better or worse w/kids, but I do know I don't miss them now. Anyway, you could play the guessing game about anything, what if I hadn't gotten the first divorce, what if I married someone else, what if I took a different job, etc.

Yep, that's so true. Only you don't have everyone and their mother telling you you really missed out by not marrying someone else, or not taking that other job.

That's true - people seem to feel particularly entitled to comment on breeding!

Well we have to make sure that the human race doesn't die out!

You know, if everyone who wanted a child adopted from a place that couldn't care for their children, how great would the world be? It would be like a global village, where we all take care of each other. Although I've pretty much committed myself to being child-free, since I'm still 35, I realize the bug might bite me later. If it does, I'm definitely planning to adopt smile

I've always heard how expensive adoption is. It would be much more appealing to me if it didn't include a huge cash outlay, on top of the expense of actually raising the baby.

I am glad you feel that way Nabine. I agree, I would love to see everyone take care of one another--regardless of where we were from.

Get back to me when the world population of humans goes below 1 billion, and I'll think about a vasectomy reversal for my husband --- maybe!

I hear ya Nabine. Strangely, when I *do* fantasize about life with a child (not a baby), it's about an adopted child from another country. Not that that's likely to happen with me, but I like your village concept. smile
