I am super-happy for you! I remember nearly 20 years ago how amazed I was when I purchased my first finches... one completely white zebra finch and one spice finch... I soon had an orange cheek and a few others, then a larger "tree" indoor aviary cage, cutthroats" (now known as "ribbon" finches), cordons, and oh so many more! I ended up with so many that I moved into the guest room on nights I wanted to sleep in! LOL... I gained tons of experience during those years, and that experience led me to seek out my favorite finches of the many I kept- the Blue Capped Cordon Bleus.
It took a while to find some and now I am successfully breeding for preservation. The blue caps are actually a test of my abilities and breeding success before I receive some very endangered and rare birds. As I breed entirely for preservation (not as birdkeeping or profit) - I am hoping to help breed PIED Blue Cap Cordon Bleu finches that currently only exist with a few top breeders and in the preservation departments of a very few zoos.
As soon as I get some, I will post some pictures of these pied blue caps! Wish me luck and prayers for the three precious lives currently in my care!
