What do you think?
Do you cover your bird's cage at night?
Why?

I have two beautiful little cockatiels, ages 2 and 1. I have always covered their cages at night to let them know that it's lights out and bedtime. They respond well to this, and whereas initially when I cover them, they protest, after a few moments, they pipe down and become quiet. They signal to me each morning, by chirping loudly and persistently that they're up, and that I should be too, that's it's time to uncover them, and to let them out of their cages! They're both fully-flighted, very active, and spend most of their time out of their cages flying around when I'm at home.

I have two cages for my 3 tiels-boys in one and Ladybird in the other. However, they are next to each other. We live in FL, so I cover my tiels with a heavy banquet size tablecloth for 12-15 hrs day. It is never spring in my house! No hormones and no eggs! I have been doing this for 2 1/2 yrs now with no problems.
Like Mbruwof, when they are awake early in the am, I am greeted with a chorus of "I'm a Pretty Bird" until I take off their cover, lol
