Mel, The easiest way to get some pictures to you would be to send them directly to you via your email. I could send you several that way. I would have to put the pictures on the 'rate a fish' page to link them to you here. I wouldn't want to start adding a bunch of pics of my fry there, most of the pictures on that site are mine already...lol.

What I could do is put some up on my 'snapalbum' which I have a link to on the bottom of each of my posts. It will take probably at least a week for them to check out the new pictures and then unlock the album again for public viewing though. Everytime I add a pic to the album they lock it up till they can make sure it's not trashy.

Let me know where you would like to view the pics and I'll see if I can get some nice ones for you. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Ok, here's a question for all our experts -- my cat, Camille, has decided that Glitz's tank has the best water around and keeps drinking out of it. I've added salt, and even some bettafix to try to keep her out of it, but nope, I hear lap, lap, lap at night. Glitz is in a betta vase, without a top or plant. So, is this likely to harm Glitz? What about Camille who now has a kittie cold? Glitz seems fine and she's very good at staying down in the bottom when Camille comes along for a drink.

If necessary, I can either put a plant in it, or lower the water level to try to keep Camille from drinking. What do you think???

If Glitz doesn't seem bothered, I'd say it's no biggie. But if the cat knocks it over, Glitz is in trouble. Can you move the vase elsewhere?

I could, but then Glitz would be by herself, and that would be sad for all my fish. I think that Camille is pretty careful about that sort of thing. She's never accidentally tipped it, or deliberately that I've seen.

Thanx EMG!

On another note... I recently decided to add 3 small Cherry Barbs to my 2 1/2gl tank. In that small tank I had my mystery snail (died), my ATF and meaner betta boy, 'Tude.

Glad to say though, the Cherries have been a great addition! They nibble at the plant, my frog want to eat them (bringing him out of his hiding), and my betta thinks they're amusing. Of course he gets very territorial about the floating feeding ring. *shrug*

things have gone so well, I'm actually thinking of getting another small 2 1/2 retangle tank, for either the other betta, or just a very small comumminty tank. so far, the levels have been fine and i'm using a Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter, medium, with bio-bag. **little hint** I didn't think the amount of activated charcoal that comes in the bio-bag was suffecient, so i added some. which one can do very simply. it has worked fine.

i also wondereed if anyone has used this technique;

my fish tanks lose water due to evaporation at a crazy rate. even with the a/c on. anyways, i got an idea to put seran wrap over the tanks, cutting a feeder/breathing hole in them, then tying them down.

it works great, it can be a little messy and frustrating at first, but the evaporation problem is solved. the fish don't mind either.

i'm working on different ways to apply this so it's neater and less ugly. i'l let everyone know how it works after this weekend.

hello i really dont know what im doing. i have never been on a forum before. i found this one while doing a search on bettas and really have enjoyed reading posts, so i thought well ill try and see if i can do this.
my husband and i got into fishkeeping in june 2004 and have fallen for bettas-we have too many but i like them all. anyway we are have a fun time with fin rot. i have resorted to diluting maracyn two in water. we (well he did anyway)figured it mathmatically and parted out the water. i dont know what to do. they are warm adn i have been trying to use melafix but it doesnt seem to quite get rid of it.
anyway i have had fun reading and wanted to join say hello and hope to contribute to the forum.

welcome kscarlet12!! so far, i too have found that melfix or bettafix alone doesn't do the job quite well. however, jillio wrote a very good article on the mater since we all were having much trouble with finrot. you should check out the finrot article and others at the front of the forum. very usueful information. good luck!
