I didn't see the new posts on the second page. In my last post I was responding to: "Muslims consider Hindus as enemies. Equally as christians. India was partioned on religious grounds."
"I would never EXPECT to enter someplace or do something just because I wanted to even if it was against a particular faith's beliefs. This is the height of hubris and self-centeredness."
Unfortunately, there are plenty of official delegates of all kinds (from all sides) who insist on doing just that, going to places at the worst time just because they can with no regard for local opinion. That's unfortunate, because by the time I want to go there as an American, the locals already hate ALL Americans.
If you enter into anyplace with automatic assumptions, expect those assumptions to be met. I do not in any mindset believe that there is a single country where /every/ citizen in that country hates Americans.
Is there anti-american sentiment? Certainly. But I always err in my faith in an individuals understanding of love and wisdom rather than his prejudice.
Or?
