Wow, if only I could lose 20-25lbs. I have a real hard time not eating carbs, or other junk food. I very much have a sweet tooth. And I love pastas, and breads etc. Although I do eat seedy, grainy breads! If I could find a way to not eat all the sweets I eat, and fit in some exercise I could lose the weight. I gained 20 lbs in 6 months and for the last 8 months Ive maintained that weight. Haven't gained any and haven't really lost any. What really gets you motivated to workout, or go for a walk? Obviously, weight loss, and health are motivators, but physically what gets you motivated to do it? That's my problem, I just can't seem to get myself moving! Any suggestions?
The only thing I've really done in the last little while, is trying to keep track of my calorie intake. While I still eat the junk, Ive been trying to keep my portions small everytime I eat. I found out the amount of calories I need to maintain my current weight, and have been trying to eat slightly less than that, hoping that might work lol... and my job is nothing but ACTIVE, but obviously, I need some more activity than what my job gives me.

Oh Lala, I know how you feel! I cannot get motivated to move! I used to be a dancer, took ballet since the age of four.
I can't seem to be able to do anything on my own. Do gyms help, does the buddy-system? I feel so down but I can't get started.

I find that buddy systems only work if one of the people has the motivation because then they rub off on you. But unfortunately I dont know anyone like that! lol... And one of my problems IS that I HATE doing things by myself. So if I dont have someone to do it with me, then I wont. But then that's just relying on others, and not taking responsibility for my own stuff. Saying I dont have a partner to go to the gym with is just another excuse not to do it. Even though it is true, that I dont enjoy it on my own.

I have been watching what I am eating lately due to a health issue. Since September, I have lost 33 pounds. I don't eat any fatty, fried or greasy foods. I watch the dairy intake, eat more fruit and veggies. I read labels and watch the trans fat count. I try to eat 5-6 small "meals" a day. And I walk 1.5 miles 5 times a week on my lunch at work. I find that you must eat, especially breakfast. If you don't take in enough, your body thinks that it needs to hang onto everything that you eat (it goes into starvation mode) and you won't lose a pound - rather, you start gaining. I have about 65 pounds to go to where I will feel OK. There are a few ladies at work who are dieting as well and we cheer each other on, but other than that, I am doing it on my own. It's not fun, but when you see the scale on the downward trend, you can't help but feel good!!

I am actively doing Atkins with my hubby and we are melting away! In a good way If you want the weight gone, it's the way to go. Go to the library and get the Atkins DVD to watch, books, etc and go to atkins.com for the "rules". But you have to do it right, and it does work!

I've been working hard with a combination of diet, exercise, and supplements. I'm doing it healthy by aiming for losing a max of 2 lbs per week. So far I am down 14lbs with 16 lbs more to go to reach my goal. It takes effort but what I have found that works is: - Diet - Watch what you eat but eat smaller yet more frequent meals to keep your metabolism up. Aim for about 6 small meals per day.
- Exercise/Cardio - Invest in a heart rate monitor watch. I have one made by Polar and it sends info wirelessly to the treadmills at my gym. This works great because I always know if I'm in the fat burning zone (I run at about 70% of my max heart rate). I use the formula that Harvard put out for finding max heart rate -> (208 - (0.7 x age in years). Then you multiply that by .7 to get your target fat burning rate. Stay in this zone and run or walk for at least 30 straight minutes per cardio session.
- Supplements - Keep some whey protein around. It is absorbed into the body quickly. Great for pre and post workout and when you don't have time to prepare tuna or other great and healthy high protein foods. I also strongly suggest investing in some certified Hoodia, as it will help to keep your hunger down and prevent you from overeating during your weight loss plan.
Cheers and good luck. If any of you have any questions on my own strategy please feel free to ask.

Has anyone tried any of the Hoodia supplements? Do they work and what kind would you recommend? I lost 30 lbs on Weight Watchers but have gained 10 of it back. Started at Halloween (when the candy came out) and I can't seem to get back on track.

I've been trying to reduce my calorie intake to 1,200 a day. I also workout 3-5 days a week. I'm losing weight but also just trying to change my life. I'd like to work out everyday and eat healthier in general.
