i think one of the big problems that many people have difficulty seperating sex from sexuality. they seem to see homosexuality as simply a sexual act instead of a sexual orientation.

when i have spoken to people who are homophobic challenging their ideas it often comes down to what goes on between the sheets.

this to me says a great deal about the people who throw around hurtful remarks...

I often think that maybe people who become so involved and so adamant about what they think is wrong in the lives of other's, are simply not looking close enough at their own lives.

Yep. Or they are trying to distract from what they are doing in their own lives/bedrooms, like the "anti-gay" preachers who are caught having gay sex.

In answer to the original question, it is no one's business what someone's sexual orientation is.....unless. Unless it is brought into the public arena like marriage or adoption. Then it becomes public business.

Just because marriages and adoption documents are legal and sometimes public records, does not explain why one's choice of spouse, sex partner, or life partner is anyone's business to interfere with.

Because we do not live in a vacuum. Things we do affect society. Homosexuality ( with AIDS, hepatitis, and other health problems associated with it) has driven health care cost through the roof. That's everyone's business.

No...All medical factors have driven health care through the roof....it's a collective problem, not an isolated one. You can't specifiy that one factor, and one factor alone has been responsible. In fact, the rise in heart problems due to obesity and lack of exercise, plus smoking-related diseases are far more resource-draining than the Aids/Hiv factor....

And smoking and over-eating really are global problems.

So only gay people get AIDS? Sorry, but I think you're living in 1984.

Can we once again state that AIDS and hepatitis and any and all other STD's are no associated with being gay they are associated with unsafe sexual encounters of any kind. A straight female is just as likely to get it if she is unsafe in her sexual activity. The best way to prevent it is to have a single sexual partner and to both be checked together in the beggining of a relationship, and remain monogomous in that relationship. Diseases are not associated with sexual orientation.

These diseases can also be contracted via iv drug use, transfusions, and medical procedures, THEN via homo OR hetero sexual contact w/a trusted partner. We're all at risk from one degree to another.
