Holy cow!! I realized it's been MONTHS since I came in here. I see lots of new faces and some bella "old-timers" too smile

I'm melissa and I've been hanging around bella for about 3 years. I've been a crocheter for about 28 years, and haven't found a pattern yet I couldn't make. I am also a pattern JUNKIE! smile I live down south, I'm married for 19 years, and I have two boys. Brad is 17 and Evan is 13. I love crochet, its cheaper than therapy. But secretly in my heart, i would love to learn to knit to....shhhh smile

For Butterfly67: I always wanted to learn to knit, too, and about two years ago I took a beginning knitting class at A.C. Moore. Discovered I absolutely hated knitting (too many things to remember to do, but it reminded me how much I loved working with yarn, so that's how I got started crocheting again after not doing so for probably 20 years. I had to start back at the basics, but it was pretty much like riding a bicycle. It all came back pretty quickly and I'm much more adventurous with stitches and hook size than I ever was before!

I am Mother Hen <><,
Been around here for several years.
Eva took me on board here and we had fun answering questions.

I Crochet , Knit ( don't do cloths , I do Slippers and Scarves though ).
I love to make different patterns and stitches in Squares , and Snowflakes, Lips , tiny Fridgie things , I croched Fruit for the SS class on "The Fruit Of The Spirit " scrap booking we are doing.
I collect Lighthouses,Fun and silly Pens and different Knicknacks.
I teach S.S. , VBS and try to Pray for the needs of friends I meet on line.
I visit several sites and have made Computer Pen pals with ladies from coast to coast , some even live near me and 3 that live over the ocean.
That's how I receive information about Patterns and have given my tips about patterns and stitches also.

Be Blessed and Happy sewing.

[color:#6666CC][/color]Hello and thank you for allowing me to join your Forum. I am very excited to get started. I have been crocheting for about 30 years, retired one year ago, have a Chapter of Project Linus, married 4 years in April, 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. That pretty much tells my story. My Husband invented a new crochet tool which I hope to show you. He is just so smart. He is a quilter. Something that I cannot do at all. This looks like a wonderful place to learn now just about crochet but so many other topics.

Hi, I'm Mable from New York. I crochet and knit; but nothing really fancy. I have done garlands, scarves, and recently made a purse. It's not bad for the first time. I didn't use a pattern. I just winged it! LOL I am 54 and a mother and grand mother of 2. Nice to meet you all!

Hi, I'm Carol, from a small mountain village in Pennsylvania, USA. I just, today, joined your forum. I have 5 children (3 mine, 2 my hubbies) and 13 grandchildren. I have a dog, a very old cat and three fish tanks full of fish
I am a second level Reiki practitioner with hopes of being a Master, I will be happy to send anyone Reiki upon request.
I've been crocheting for 30 years, I've done just about everything. I also have the Yarn/Pattern collecting syndrome, I can't seem to get enough of either. I dabble in beading jewelry. I try to knit (it goes too slow), I try other crafts but I always come back to crochet. My latest projects have been hats and slippers/socks, I'm working on a baby afghan now, in the waffle weave. When the world is falling apart around me, I can always rely on crochet to keep me steady.
I love to find patterns from other countries, I constantly search the internet for new websites.
I am looking forward to visiting this forum often.

Hi,
I'm Rachel, new Spanish Culture editor.
I've been crotcheting since 7 or 8 years old, I remember making long strings of chains and my mum start me on singles or doubles, I'd do one or two and go back to my chains!!

I do very little these days, thought I have just made some cloths for the holiday rental home, to go with the old crotchet bedspread of my Grandma's.

I do love seeing the incredible work of the old Spanish ladies, every (old) home has an array of garish cloths and intricate antimacassars (i had to look in the dictionary for that one).

They used to use rings a lot I notice, never done anything like that - looks a bit fiddly to me.

My mum has a craft stall selling only crochet, she's only missed one month in 16 years! I'm not convinced she makes any money out of it but it keep her busy and active.

HI, I'm brand new to this forum, but like what I've read so far. I'm married for 39 years to Dan & we have 2 sons, both married, 1 w/4 sons & 1 w/a son & a daughter. My oldest grand is 17 yo. I learned to crochet from my Irish immigrant mother who came over when she was 16. In Ireland (at least in the 1920's) girls learned to knit, crochet, tat & sew in school. She had to be able to sew a dress for herself by 3rd grade. As a result, she was a master seamstress & sewed all my clothes (except underwear) for many years, even my maternity clothes! She knitted beautifully & made me a snowsuit when I was a baby & also one for my sister, born 12 yrs later. She tried to teach me crochet at about age 8, but my stitches were so tight I couldn't work them. Later when I was married & expecting, I tried again & my tension was just right & I've been crocheting & collecting patterns ever since. As you might imagine, my collection is enormous. I've learned there's nothing you can't find a pattern for, even have instructions for convertins knit to crochet. I've never liked knitting, just can't get the hang of it & worry about losing stitches. Both my sister & I caught Mom's creativity, me with crochet & she with art. Mom's been gone since 1998, but not in spirit; there's a little of her in everything we both do.
