Well I have mine prieced and this is what i think!
It hurt when they did it but not as bad as I thought it would and not for as long either by the time she put the ring in and got the other one ready the 1st one didnt hurt anymore!
after, it hurt when they moved or caught it on something! but I did, however, find that if i wore a cotton sports bra that didnot have a seem going over the nipple I did not notice then at all!!! If you do have them done I would say go with the bars that are shorter but not 2 short (it needs to be able to allow for some swelling and be ablte to move to clean), and have the skrew type ends!!! these ends are ezer to remove if you want to plus I used a lot of anti bacterial oil because when they get dry they pull when they moved OUCH!!! I agree with getting cold! Before i was told to put the oil on, i almost cried with every chill and they iched!!!

the rings with the little balls that connect them are harder to work and you tend to pull and twist yourself to get the balls off to change them!

after about a month or so of changeing them you get use to them and you dont hurt your self just remember to put anti bio oil on the tip of the ring before you insert it!

also if youre going from a straight bra to a curve ring go slowly and carefully because you path is not the same!!! I learned this the hard way!!!

FYI Im a 42DD and a Type I diebetic so...

I had both done with curved barbells... so almost rings. Like Rae, I found them to be easier to clean. My only problem was I had kittens at the time and they looked at the shiny dangly things as a toy and one of them attmepted to rip one out. Then I got an EMS job where I was not allowed to wear them or my navel, so I took them out. Now, years later, I want to get them re-done and I will get either curved barbells or rings.

And as for pain and healing.. it was a breeze for me. But I am told I have a higher pain tollerance, hence the time I sat down for almost all of my sleeve pieces in one sitting LOL

the stretchers... dealing them can be quite physical so they could catch, even under clothing. So it was a pre-emptive. And for the nipples, when we didn't have on our vests, we had polos.. you can SO tell ;0)

I worked a light industrial assembly job when I got my nipples pierced and being careful of snagging, even with a bra, was tough sometimes. I had to move and stack 50 lb. boxes some days.

And Jase, you are not the first person I've heard tell of kittens fascinated by body piercings.
