Global warming is not a country specific issue. So research will continue somewhere.

Global warming will save us from the coming ice age. But if Al Gore gets his way, we will all freeze to death.

You're kidding, right? Global warming will save us from the coming ice age. But if Al Gore gets his way, we will all freeze to death.

Unfortunately not. Our entertaining firend has a discerning and amusing habit, bless him, of disengaging brain before operating "mouth"..... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I don't wanted to resent any one. it meant, no one is the target, that sentence came to my mind and thought "it was pity if I don't write it" that's all. but you are right, no satire is completely without purpose.

The "scientists" can't make up their minds. Man may or may not have some sort of impact, depending on your scientific flavor of the week; but, "they" all seem to agree that weather is cyclical. So... if they'd decide on a single time frame and which cycle and whether man has an impact and whether the moon is made out of green cheese...

Global warming has "hoax" written all over it. UFOs, bigfoot and global warming.

Actually scientists do agree on global warming. Yes, there are a few dissenters, a very few. And yes, research funds are political. But the results are not. To get the next grant and thus keep his job, because most research jobs are self-supporting, the scientist must produce work that has been published in reputable journals. And for that to happen, the work must be examined with full efforts to pull the results and the methods apart by other experts in the field. The experts chosen for this task are almost always those that disagree on the topic involved, because they will be most critical.
It's not really that hard to reduce people's carbon footprints. In the UK, all new housing will be carbon neutral in 10 years, so the technology is already available. Europe is doing all the hard work in showing the US how to do it. All they have to do is look over the shoulders of the countries which have been working on it for years already.
