Also, as far as your fry colors, maybe they are not as vibrant, but your fry will probably be insanely healthy and active, since they got so much care from you. And that's a great selling point for people with first bettas.

Yeah, I have been trying to select a sister for him. I have plenty of fry who are very pale in color...makes me wonder what an albino betta looks like, because these fish are pretty see through and almost colorless, but have very pale blue in the fins..with a bit of red on some of them. I think I found one...trying to pick out the lightest one with the smallest amount of color on it...we'll see, they seem to change color as I watch them!

about moving my fry to new homes.....be HAPPY to ! They're pretty small yet and still just feeding on brine shrimp and mosquito larvae..trying to get them to eat something less involved...like small pellet food. Not as nutritious I suppose, but would make it easier to get them into new homes...I am hoping to be able to move them out before school ends for the summer. I have some folks there who are interested.

Hello again
either i'm imagining it or GT is starting to look better i took out his gravel and his plastic plant and replaced them with a coffee cup (is that ok?) either way he loves it and his fins are disappearing slower but that may be because i might have put in maracyn 2 and bettafix...its not killing him and he's looking better so it must be ok
i'm going to get my tank this weekend i'm very excited i'm looking at the eclipse system 12:D

great news hil! Yeah, the coffee cup sounds just fine. And the eclipse system tanks are wonderful - those biowheels are a great idea.

COOL !

I just found one of my fry...a very pale silvery blue one, with NO red, that has a face that is half black! At first I thought it might have some weird thing wrong with it, but I think it's just a bit marbled! Which would be WAY cool if it is a female....would be a possible match for Jax! Still too early to easily tell the crowntails from the veil tails yet....but a crowntail on top of that would be just too much to hope for !

p.s...I can't believe I am actually even THINKING of doing this again!!

Funny...F'lar...the dad to my fry...who was once a steelsorta blue...is now changing to an almost black betta...interesting...very interesting...

I'll have to get a pick of him and post it so you can see the difference.

He just went through a bad spell this past week, but I have been feeding him up on mesquito larvae and brine shrimp along with the bettafix/salt treatment and he is looking very chipper and well these days. The ick/fungus..whatever it was that he had seems to be all cleared up now, but I'm going to continue bettafix for a few more days to be sure he is ok.

I think I will clean out his tank at the same time I clean out the bowl he is in...so that the water should be the same levels of everything. That should make the transition back to his tank go well for him...I hope, but these days I take nothing for granted!

I have a problem with my new Betta. My mother bought this fish for me yesterday. Everything was set up right. Well at least I think it was. I used spring water because the fish was in a little plastic bag. So then I had to add some tap water to make the temperature right for the fish. Everything seemed fine last night. However I fed the fish last night, and it didn't eat.

Apparently overnight the temprature dropped a good amount. Cause it was downright cold this morning in my room. The water temp is about 68 degrees from what I can tell. My fish is just sitting at the bottom of the tank with his face pushed against a rock. He isn't moving that I can tell, and he isn't reacting when I move the bowl. I think he is dead, but not sure how he could have died in less then 24hrs. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Josh

Josh if you added tap water without a declorinator then the chlorine in the tap water has or is killing him. If he is still alive then give him all fresh declorinated water as close to the temp it is RIGHT NOW, add Aquarium salt at prescribed amount and betta fix...slowly warm him back up to the mid 70's or so...If you have lost him I am sorry tp hear. Read lots more about bettas on here and then when you feel ready go get another betta and enjoy him...they are beautiful fish.

Grapel is sensitive , sheesh. I put an oto in his tank to keep the algae and such down and he's been moping near the bottom of his tank. He did come up to greet me, but then went back to sulking. Glitz is now in an aqua view plus tank (used to be Joey's betta tank) with Bashful. So Pinky is also sulking -- no froggie, no oto, all alone in his tank. I'll be stopping by Walmart again today to pick up another friend for Pinky! I'd put the new oto in with Pinky, but really want Grapel to have one in his tank. They help keep the tank clean.
