Some cosmetics can cause acne at any age. If you are getting acne in ages above twenties, look at your makeup box. Something there may be responsible.

It's not just make up that can cause a break out of acne. Most anything that you put on your face that contains chemicals or dyes you are putting yourself at risk for flare up with unwanted acne because these are skin irritants. Also any moisterizers or facial washes that contain mineral oil can also be responsible for acne because mineral oil acts as a barrier and does not allow the skin to breathe. Alot of make ups and moisterizers also contain animal products and by products which also are skin irritants. Besides what we put on our skin we also need to drink plenty of water and eat properly. During our menstrual cycle women sometimes suffer from acne due to hormonal issues. When you are having an out break with acne stay away from facial masks or scubs because these irritate the acne and can increase its duration. Don't sleep in your make up and try to follow a good scheduled cleansing and moisterizing regimen daily.

As far as the maekups go, I have found that the mineral makeups seem to cause way fewer breakouts than the other types of makeups I have used in the past- including the compact "dry" foundations. Maybe it is because they have absolutely no oils in them whatsoever.

Whatever the reason, I really like them, and only use a heavier foundation when I am doing something for acting or modeling auditions.

My father had zits when he died last year at 84 and my mother had zits until she quit having periods...sooo I am guessing that heredity plays a role in the whole acne picture...I have acne as do both my brothers to varying degrees. Frankly, at 50; I think enough already...

Mineral oils have comedogenicity of zero. You are bang right with your observation.

Could it be something else? Because your father had zits till 84 and mother till her menopause. But they were not related by blood. So both had different reasons.

We have lost track of the thread. I was not talking about Acne due to different reasons. But only because of cosmetics. Has any body expereienced acne break-out after using a cosmetic?

Any type of foundation that I use will cause a horrible break out for me. Even the ones that are for sensitive skin bother me but not as bad as other types. I just don't wear foundation and if I ever wear make up it is eyeliner and mascera.

You have this break out even if the foundation is marked- Noncomedogenic?

sensitivity to ingredients, not replacing soon enough, contaminating with your own hands, lots of things can cause the make up to cause breakouts.
