Wow! THANKS, Tina, that is a GREAT reminder of how relative things really are. John Glenn is truly a great man, one that ALL of us have watched since we were children! It sure does make some excellent points! I hope more Americans are keeping all of this in perspective and still waving flags and saying "God Bless America" and "God Bless All our Troups!" <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Quite, PondLady...

I would urge all Americans to think very carefully before voting today.... suffice to say that America has often referred to itself as the Police of the World....
I personally would not like another second with you governed by your current "Commissioner"....Remember, whatever you condemn yourselves to, you condemn the World to more of the same....

Alexandra, voting today is not for "commmissioner", we don't have those at Federal levels. As a matter of fact, we are not holding federal elections today at all. They are elections at local and state levels.

Neither America nor Americans believe we are Police of the world. We are so fortunate to be a great country that holds justice and freedom as the greatest liberties of all. That is why WE help those that are less fortunate and need help.

The US is voting for local representatives in Federal government. The offices are federal offices as defined in the Constitution. They also represent the balance of our government, a counter to the executive power of the President and that of the Supreme Court. Without those Representative and Senator, the citizenry has no role in the day-to-day decisions of the nation, and could only affect what was done once every four years. The state elections are where you vote for your local representative in your state legislature.

If we truly do hold justice and freedom very high, we should be correcting the ease with which we can be prevented from voting or have out vote changed. See this website for a list of the ways this has been done, almost exclusively in ways that benefit Republican candidates, just in the past few days.

And we should be impeaching and otherwise prosecuting those responsible for such actions.

Yes, Donna, we are having STATE elections today. As I was saying to Alexandra, we are not voting for commissioner, or President. As far as having voting problems, there have not been enough in this state to make a difference. I don't know where you are getting your information, unless it is from the media, which has been blowing things out of proportion even here!

Trish,

I cited the website that is my source. I think it gives the sources from which it gathers information.

I disagree with you about whether they are state or federal elections. Exactly which elections, would you say, are Federal elections? If you say the ones in which we vote for President, then you are being illogical, saying that every other two years, Senators and Representatives are voted on in State elections, and every other two years, Senators and Representatives are voted on in Federal elections.

Donna, what I am saying is that in our state, we are holding "Guberatorial General Elections", where we choose our governor and our state senator and represenative, as well as a U.S.Senator and 3 Delegates for the House of Representatives. In 2 years, we will have a federal election where we WILL elect president and representatives, as they only serve 2 years. Senators serve for 6 years and our state senator serves our state legislature, first.

hmmm. . . Hmmmm . . . Hmmm.

So nothing has ever changed. Children playing their war games using the wrongs of others to justify their misdeeds. I love every solider fighting this war and my heart goes out to them. That doesn't make ANY war right ever. Anyone who tells you there is only one way to do something is a fool. Everyone needs to say no.

John Glenn is a GREAT AMERICAN. I'd like to see him run for the top spot.
