The Kerry remark just wasn't true. It was insulting to all of us who served and are serving in the military. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if his other past remarks didn't prove he meant it.

Except that he didn't say it about the military! Don't you get it? He IS military himself. He knows who the military are, and he supplied the original version, which is clearly speaking about Bush, to the press.

Although, for me, it is difficult envisioning why anyone who had other options would volunteer knowing that one in five return with a permanent disability of some sort and knowing what a large proportion of the US's homeless are veterans.

Please supply some samples of previous comments he has made (without using swift-boaters as a source) that lead you to believe he has such an attitude to the military.

I voted for Kerry in 2004. I regret it. There is something in his attitude and his voice that tells me he feels superior. He is a smoother speaker than Bush. No question. But Bush gets to the point even if he stutters in the process. Kerry is of the New England elite. I feel a haughtiness in his high-brow liberalism. His wife is a Heinz heiress. She has 600 million dollars. I repeat. Kerry's wife has $600 million in addition to the fortune he has. Can they possibly relate to the working middle class? They relate to the filthy rich. They throw charities a few scraps every now and then to bolster their images in the press. I can not scientifically prove that Kerry is pompous and condescending. No such thing. It is something I feel. But I feel it strongly. He is a refugee from his high school debating team--50 years later.

And Bush's background is even more patritian. He affects an accent that he has no business having considering he wasn't raised anywhere near Texas. He hangs with a more callous rich crowd than Kerry. At least Kerry's real. He doesn't pretend to be what he isn't. I feel like Bush is trailer trash material that got lucky in who he was born to, and I feel that very strongly, too.

And you've lost all arguments and resorted to mere name-calling.

Troll.

Jim,
I think it is logical that a person who has been through war before will try to avoid it at all costs. You and I would do the same.

Whether that would be the right decision in getting through the issues facing the world today I don't know. But Kerry's logic does make sence to me.
