I buy candied ginger by the bag for indigestion. Also, I use ginger root to make tea for indigestion. My problem is I eat lots of fruits and veggies, which I know everyone should do, but when you reach about age 50, it becomes harder for your system to handle, I guess.
Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory so good for arthritis pain.

For years TCM have used tea made from fresh ginger root to treat colds, coughs and flu. Simmer three or four thin slices of fresh ginger root in a pint of water for 10 to 30 minutes. This warm, tasty tea can help all your cold symptoms. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I drink ginger tea in the winter to help keep me warm and make me better able to deal with the cold. It is also great for fevers, nausea, and stomach problems. Even though it helps keep you warm, actually ginger is normalizing. In the case of fevers, it actually helps lower your body temperature.

Ginger is supposed to keep the digestive fires burning(according to Aryuvada)if used with tumeric, fennel, cinnamon, natural sugar or honey and ghee(clarified butter) a teaspoon or so of each in hot water is great for digestive issues and joint pain...tatses good too...

I swear by ginger. I keep the tea on hand for stomach problems in addition to mint (depending on whether it's a hot or cold feeling upset), and I keep a container of Altoids Ginger in my purse for carsickness!

I was told to take Ginger Root years ago when I worked at a Vitamin Store. I have carried it ever since. I am always giving it out to kids I work with for upset stomach and indigestion. they swear by it now too. If you have problems digesting food or indigestion, carry chewable Papaya too. It works fast and taste good. Make sure you get the ones that are orange not white. The orange ones taste like sweetarts.

I knew their must be a reason i eat so much of it. As a lover of asian cuisine, i cook with it all the time and drink ginger tea several times a week. And all this time i thought it was the great taste.

Ginger(Zingiber Officinale) Uses; Indigestion,Nausea,Motion Sickness,May help reduce cholesterol and narrowing of the arteries.
CAUTION; May interact with anticoagulant drugs. Do not take therapeutic quantities if you have gallbladder disease. The amounts used in cooking are safe. Despite its blood-thinning qualities, ginger is unlikely to be harmful before or after surgery. Pregnant women who wish to use ginger for morning sickness should first consult their health care practitioner.
