Bin Laden and al Qaeda started this war when they destroyed the World Trade Center, killing nearly 3 thousand civilians, and attacked the Pentagon. Bin Ladin and al Qaeda are the war mongers. Bin laden was never in Iraq and al qaeda was always supported by Saudi arabia and Pakistan. why not address that issue. rather than fighting the real enemy, US chose Iraq. that way it could have as well chosen any country in the world. Who attacked on 9/11? Bin Laden. The US knows where he is. Why do they not go after him? And if you do not know where he is , search for him and bring him to justice. why wage wars against other countries? This defies all logic.

The Bush family had a feud going with Saddam Hussein starting with the Gulf War in 1990-91. Saddam was such a threatening presence before 2003 that Bush felt like he had to take him out. Everyone knew Saddam. Bin Laden was more of a mystery. Not much was known about him. Bush went after the high profile Saddam.
We might catch Bin Laden even now if we send 150,000 troops looking for him. Sometimes I think it might be the right thing. But Ahmadinejad in Iran is the problem now. We have to guard against the worst possible thing that could happen. The worst possible thing is nuclear weapons being used in the Middle East. Bin Laden is somewhat passe. Ahmadinejad is on the rise. He is unpredictable and must be addressed.

Who says I have to support it? Why do we have the process of voting if we -have- to support the government? That's not what democracy is about. If you agree with your government, you vote. If you don't agree with your government, you vote.
Karyn,
Ok, your right. I guess what I should have said is we all "should" support the government, especially the commander in chief. I didn't say climb aboard the bandwagon and proclaim that everything is correct and right or just. I am a veteren as is my husband. We are not in the military anymore, however we support those who are. I especially support the spouses and family of the service member because I was also one of those even though i was also enlisted. I always feared for my husbands safety as he was infantry and was always in a first responder unit that would mobilize at a moments notice. During the first year of our marriage he was home a total of 11 weeks. The rest of the time he was deployed somewhere. So I guess in a way i am biased. I always felt that to be the best supporter of my husband that i could be was to not act out against what he couldn't control. We both agreed that when our time was up we would not re-enlist again. Mainly because we didn't always agree with what our government was heading into. But we still don't look down on the actions of our President. We just both feel that he is the best man for the job right now. He can't run again and then we will get someone else that we probably won't agree completely with and we'll support him or her. It's just our nature. Maybe we were brain washed!! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Alexandra,
I hope the chair you sit in while you judge me is comfortable... you'll be there for a while I'm sure. maybe if you knew Jesus as Savior, you'd understand my quote better.

How does Iran come in your way of catching Laden?

Pardon me Jenna, but you threw the first stone....
and I would never presume to judge you, i am merely pointing out What I perceive to be a possible hypocrisy... I have, as you put it, 'known Jesus as saviour'... as a practising Catholic for over forty years, it left nothing but a bitter taste in my mouth. The man existed, without a doubt. And he had a heck of an influence, both then and now. But - saviour?
Sorry, but once bitten....
Anyway, this is off topic. As you posted publicly, I responded accordingly. If you want to continue, I'll always welcome dialogue though PM's..
But here, I shall now take my leave.

Surely you only support your government and the president if you believe they are doing the right thing, if not you make one hell of a fuss!

This is all starting to run together. I am going to sit out for awhile. But you know how I feel. George Bush has done and is doing everything in his power to defend America and western civilization from Islamic radicals who seemingly have no regard for human life.

Jim, I agree. It seems that some people can't acknowledge that President Bush has done anything for them or the safety of our country. For those people, there is no reasoning. They are oblivious to the truth. It seems all they want to hear is themselves talking so I am going to sit out for awhile, too.
God Bless America and God Bless ALL our Troups!
