Do Christians believe that Christ was God? Or he was the son of God?

That's what I was taught, as a Roman Catholic... and when you're young and impressionable, surrounded by people who tell you the same thing, your natural instinct is to believe it without question.... We were also taught that during mass, the wine and host ACTUALLY BECAME CHRIST'S BODY AND BLOOD.... I Couldn't 'see'it myself, whence began the long trip to recovery.....

I personally believe that Christ was God. that has been told by all the great hindu saints of india, including Ramakrishna Pramhansa and Baba Muktananda.
What I want to know is this- do belivers talk of Christ as God himself or as son of god? I have no doubt in my mind that Christ was God.

Christ is God as the Spirit is God. Three facets of the same being. Many heresies have arose over this very issue.

My query was little different- What do Christians believe? Christ as God, or Christ as son of God?

As a Christian, I believe that Christ is the son of God (as I was raised in the Baptist church). In my young adulthood, through marriage to a Catholic, I have learned and now also believe that Christ is God. I believe, as a Christian, that the Holy Trinity explains God, the Father, Christ, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the Spirit.
Niassne said this, too: "Christ is God as the Spirit is God. Three facets of the same being", and that is how I, as a Cristian, see it. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The three facets are the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I recall that the answer to that would be both. When I was Catholic I was taught that Jesus is the son of God and is also God since he is part of the holy trinity.
Confused? Then it is not meant for you to understand.
