As for having "faith" in elevators and whatnot ... we may not know all the components of the technology we use, but there are rules regarding its care and usage. We have to assume that care was taken on the items we are not responsible for (elevator) and are responsible for those we maintain (our auto). BTW I NEVER get in the car and assume I'm going to be accident-free - there's freakin' idiots on the roads with me!! Science has shown us the composition of the sun and scientists track changes. I'm certain they would tell us if we could expect it to burn out tomorrow. A reasonable decision or assumption based on scientific knowledge is not 'faith'.

little different from the rest of the post!) <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Jordan,
morality: (as defined by The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language 4th edition)1. The quality of being in accord with standards of right or good conduct. 2. A system of ideas of right and wrong conduct: religious morality; Christian morality. 3.Virtuous conduct. 4. A rule or lesson in moral conduct.
It is not until the 2nd definition that religion is even mentioned, and even then as only an example. People are taught what right and wrong is whether or not they believe in God. It is part of culture and society. It is in laws and just an inherent part of growing up. If a family is in a stable society then they are going to pass down their own set of morals - sometimes governed by their religious upbringing, sometimes by their government - whichever is most prominent in their lives.
If you are a Christian, then you should believe in the tenant - "Judge not". That applies to atheists as well. Saying a person has no morals is definitely judging and you nor I have the knowledge or wisdom to do that.
