The size of the tank really has no relation to whether or not Bettas eat. I've kept Bettas in their store "cup" containers and feed them many pellets a day and they eat them up in just a few seconds.

A few things that may cause them to not eat.

1. They are full.
2. They are sick.
3. They are stressed.

If the water is clean and the temperature is right, but they still don't eat then they may be sick or stressed.
