That's exactly why we bought the house --- DH's other idea was to move the brother in with us. HELL NO! I very diplomatically told him I did not want to make him choose btw his brother and his wife. I also had a host of logistic reasons why it wouldn't work. I am willing to drain every account I have to keep him housed someplace far away from us.

She knew I didn't want any kids and that my husband was fine with that so, when we married she disowned him, I mean, how much luckier could I have gotten?!

And money? I would only give money to my brother who I am EXTREMELY close to, but he would reciprocate unconditionally if the need arose. I would never let a family member go hungry, but I would NEVER, EVER let one move in with me. We've got twenty acres: find a flat spot, scrape it clean and pitch a tent!

Your mother-in-law seriously is that bad about being controlling?? Gee, what a witch.

My younger brother, he's good about being the one you could always count on for being there if I ever needed him. My older brother is too lazy to be dependable.

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

TBunny: You're doing the right thing. Your home is all you've got in this world where you can get a little privacy, I'm NOT giving it up.

Freespirit: Yes, many women are

Waterlilly: She really is that shallow and selfish but, it's worked out wonderfully for me. My mom gets all the attention, she deserves it anyway. I'm very happy I have no MIL, less c rap I have to deal with.

We don't have much to do with my in-laws, we love our space. We cherish it, too. My in-laws can be controlling. Ugh!

[color:"darkred"]I bet so, too. Funny how people can't accept others unless they fit some stupid mold or expectation. [/color]
