omg, i STILL get the "maybe you're pregnant" routine. and everyone i work with knows i can't have kids. but they still say it. they think they're "helping" and "giving you hope." grrrrr. instead, they usually say it when i'm having my period because my period brings nausea, vomiting, munchies, pain, exhaustion, insomnia, etc. i hate that they found out that we were trying, but after so many years of it, well, the truth comes out. it's hard to hide it.

yet they still say stupid and insensitive things. and i still hear the "since you don't have kids...." and then they ask me to be on some committee or take on more workload than the others when i already have more responsibilities at work than everyone else, and they know i work at a tutoring site in the evenings.

gosh, i'm just spewing. lol. it helps though. i'm glad y'all are here.

I'm sorry people are so insensitive to you. I think with some people, having kids destroys their brain cells!

aero, I get comments like that all the time: If I'm overly tired one day and crash on the couch, if I've got the munchies and am eating everything in sight, if my stomach is bothering me and I'm feeling nauseous, it's "are you pregnant?", "maybe you're pregnant", etc. So annoying!!

[color:"orange"]I have small kidneys and need to visit the restroom often. Also, before, during, and after my menstral cycle, I get the munchies ect. Whenever I'm around my in-laws, I get those respones too. Very annoying. They must think everyone that has those symptoms is pregnant. How ignorant. [/color]

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

Are you kidding me? And if your husband died, would they come up to you and say "well, since you're single, can you just stay late this week?" W...T...F????

I've heard from my MOM "well, maybe you just don't know yourself. you never liked cats before, but now you have one."

Very insulting.

This group is great! So glad to see that others are dealing with the same issues!

Well, believe it or not, there may well be two sides to every story....A friend of mine (who I have known since we were at school together) has always, ALWAYS been anti-kids. Even as a young girl, then teenager, the thought of having kids horrified and appalled her. She hated them. Wanted nothing to do with them. refused to babysit even for her own little brother, she thought they were soooooo annoying.

She met a wonderful guy who she discovered was on exactly the same wavelength - hallelujah!!They were both equally determined to not even live next door to a family with children, let alone have any of their own!
When Liam reached the age of 28, they both decided to approach the doctor to put him forward for a vasectomy. They went through counselling, psychotherapy and met up with every professional person relevant, to make sure that this was really, truly, honestly, definitely what they both wanted.
Having cleared all the hurdles, (which took nearly a year) Liam finally received a date for his vasectomy.
A week before, Sandra discovered he was pregnant.
Being the kind of gal she is, she was unable to even contemplate an abortion. It simply did not fit in with her sphere of thought.
So, with much heart- and soul-searching, they both decided, not only to go through with the pregnancy, but to also keep the baby.

They are now the proud, enthusiastic and totally committed parents of 6 children.
