[color:"orange"] If someone says a mean or dumb (or has some ignorant reaction) thing to me about being childfree, I usualy just remind myself that they are just jealous. I just ignore them. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

There was a guy I worked with that made comments all the time, so I just talked MORE about our boat or our travels just to rub it in. <img src="/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

I had a classic just last week.

I have recently moved to rural Australia and feeling quite lonely and isolated. I met up with a girlfriend in the city (who has 2 little boys) and she listened to my concerns. Her solution? Have kids! They'll keep you busy and they'll help you meet people (other mums).

Uh huh. I'd rather get a dog and walk him in the park.

I was unemployed a few years ago and having difficulty finding work in the post-9/11 recession. A friend of mine who recently had a baby said, "Oh, don't bother trying to find a job. Just get married and have kids!" Hello, how would I PAY for these kids? Even if I wanted them, having them in lieu of working is a bad idea. I sometimes wonder about some women; it seems like they get bored with their careers, so they think, oh, I'll have a baby and stay home. It seems like a lot of stay-at-home moms hang out at the mall. I guess they expect to spend their days shopping and have hubby pick up the tab. How selfish can you get? Supposedly, their staying home to be with their kids, but is carting children around the food court really looking after them?

[color:"orange"] These idiots that have kids for boredom are really going to get what they just deserve. You reap what you sow.
I also don't understand the stupidty of having children when the parents don't have insurance or jobs. I guess they just want to become welfare rabbit idiots. <img src="/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wall.gif" alt="" />

This wasn't actually said to me, but to an acquaintance of mine, a 20-something Christian who is not sure she wants to have kids but is seeing a lot of her friends and family members go through the process lately. I referred her to this forum a while back so she may or may not be reading this...

Anyway, she mentioned on her blog that she was starting to feel sick - throat, sinus, and ear pain - and she got this comment from a blogger who shall remain nameless (although she does have "mom" in her username, so that might explain some things):

doesn't sound a thing like morning sickness, however. *smile?*

I'm sorry, but what an inane thing to say. What does that have to do with ANYTHING?

aero, I get comments like that all the time: If I'm overly tired one day and crash on the couch, if I've got the munchies and am eating everything in sight, if my stomach is bothering me and I'm feeling nauseous, it's "are you pregnant?", "maybe you're pregnant", etc. So annoying!!

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

The whole argument about kids looking after you when you are old is nonsense. My mum used to look after old people as a job, one old lady had 13 children and none of them went near her. The only person who she ever had visit was my mum who was paid to go. You want to live your own life - so will your kids.
