Let me point this out...there are so many names that can go both ways. Kelley, Terry, Sam....much more. The names I just listed I would never give to a boy.

Lisa is not my real name. I use it because my real name is SO unique, you could use that knowledge to track me to my front door.
I have always hated it, its a name my Mother saw in a movie, nothing to do with family heritage or nationality...I hate it, hate it, hate it.
Parents do their children alot of pain and suffering when they give them bizarre names that people can use to tease them with AND thats a normal name, nevermind giving a boy a girls name.
When my daughter was born, I was determined to choose a name that was not one you find every other child but one people would know AND one that meant something to my family.
My parents first child died of Leukemia LONG before I was born, her name was Diane. My daughter has never run into another child with that same name. She has met some adults but not even a huge amount of them.

Lisa, I can understand what you say. Same is true with me. I hate my real name with vigor.

I have a friend whose name is Leslie Stephen X... He, on premise goes by L. Stephen on paper or Les. I have had several conversations with him about how much he wished when he was a child that his parents had swapped those 2 names around. Granted he is in his 40's now so back in the 60's when he was growing up, a male Leslie wasn't as uncommon as it may be now.

On another note, children if they want to, will find a reason to pick on Alex no matter how his name ends. Mine is Wendy and I still remember all the [censored] nicknames I had in grade school.

My name was given by my step grand mother. She named us horribly out of grudge.
