To those who know me, my answer is always, "Have you MET my husband's family??" and then usually something about the shallow end of the gene pool... Most everyone in our circle has at least heard (if not witnessed) some of the horror stories about his very large/very dysfunctional family (it's a wonder they haven't ended up on Springer).

To folks who don't know me, I usually say we don't want to perpetuate a history of physical conditions, mental issues, chemical addictions, and violence. That usually shuts 'em up.

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

I never think of the people who're politely enquiring if i have children as being 'bingo-ers'. It's the ones who insist on making a conflict out of the encounter that really get on my nerves. Surely when somebody says that they 'just don't want kids' that should be the end of the discussion? I'll talk about it till the cows come home with friends/family/nice non-judgemental people....
But we all know the ones who get on your last nerve, don't we? They just won't let it go! So that's when i get mean...

[color:"blue"] I love that I had the brain power to be a freethinker, and a liberated soul. (Meaning my being childfree) [/color]

I tried a new one today. I leaned in close to the nurse prepping my leg and asked "Did you know you have something green in your teeth?"

Got her totally off subject and had her running for the bathroom to check.
