Wait until you read what I think about the issue... I think some of you may be surprised how I feel, because it is very similar to your sentiments. I will also comment on the gay marriage track in the US and what I think of our hopes in accomplishing that challange as well.

Keep on commenting. You are all welcome to start threads yourself ;0)

Gay marriage who does it hurt NO ONE, no straight person has ever been effected by a gay marriage, i wish these people would get a life if it doesn't effect you ,then leave it alone, and mind your own business, we all have our own lives to live, live and let live(can't we all just get along)

I havent good opinion about marriage! And guess its contrary with human right! lol
Oh pardon back to the title. In am not familiar with any gay/lesbian person because nobody dare to show this attitude in society here, beside if anybody known as gay will be abandoned. Last week saw news about a caf opened in Tehran for gays; I think its the first time in our history.
Frankly I think every body must has this right to choose his/her desire life if dont harm others and maybe also his/herself.
I guess this manner is a type of living and dont consider gay marriage a harmful way totally.
Yeah every body needs respect.

Babak, we do not choose to be gay or lesbian just as you do not choose to be heterosexual. It is not a choice. It just is what we are. That said, if I did have a choice, I would choose exactly what I am.

Because we haven't the civil rights that straight folks have, Donna and I have partnership agreements as if we were a business, we have powers of attorney for each other, medical, legal, end of life. And with all that, we do not get recognised as a couple by the state. We have forced them to recognise us as a legal partnership, but not a domestic one.

Seems in this case society harms gays/lesbians.

Pondlady
Pardon if I was offensive.
I think you are right although I'm not sure understood your feeling quite well.
I have seen that some people loves other people follow their way, whether they were majority or minority.
As I see marriage has some privilege for you there.
Any way I guess any insane prevent is a cruel, even if it doesn't effect on our life straightly but offend our feeling and cause occupied some part of our brain.

Society does not harm homosexuals. Homosexuality is harmful to society. It is a dangerous lifestyle. Homosexuals have among them one of the highest rates of STDs and suicides and one of the lowest national average lifespans of any demographic group.

I would love to know how it will hurt society. If gay men and women wish to have the same burden and trouble heterosexual married people, why not? LOL

Also, marriage between a man and a woman can be seen as harmful to society. Look at the divorce rate over 50%!

Could you please provide some scientific support to back up your claims?

The suicide rate isn't that much different than for heterosexual persons. One of the reasons for suicide amungst homosexual teens and adults is due to the fact that people in this society don't accept them, harm them, wish to cause harm, wish to convert through dangerous methods to heterosexual, etc.

As for STD transmission rates, it is a matter of sexual activity and not a matter of sexuality. A heterosexual and homosexual have the same chances of getting an STD due to having multiple partners, etc. If a person is not promiscuous or monagomous, their chances of contracting a STD are slim to none. Currently the fastest growing AIDS/HIV transmission rate is among WOMEN who are HETEROSEXUAL, African-American, and between the ages of 14-28.

As for emotional baggage and such, as in harming society or children, let me point you to a great article BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. If you don't know how to do UBB code just post here for help - we will help out!
