It is so sad. We had alcholism in our family as well.

Even though we loved them dearly, it was impossible to communicate and the sad thing is if they don't want to help themselves 100% they will not change.

The lad in our family said he wanted to help himself, they put him in hospital and he escaped and went straight to the pub. In the end he drank himself to death.

It is a shocking disease, hurts every one around them and all I can say, even though it will be hard for you go in another direction.

I understand your feelings. It is very sad and depressing. You really miss the person your friend is but not the habit that goes along with it. Take one day at a time as it comes and continue to talk about it, it helps to get those feelings out. What has help me the most has been jounaling, writing my feelings down.

My "friend" left me a message to call her because she had to talk with me. Well, I am not so sure I want to re-open this pandora's box? Should I just keep my distance or should I call and see what she has to say? Maybe I can only answer this?
