Just want to say hello and let you know I am excited about being at a place where we all share a common interest. I would be interested in any feedback on good books for beginner crocheters and a magazine for beginners. Happy Days one and all

Hi Judy and all the rest of you Crocheters,

I hope to get better acquainted with you in the months to come. I've crocheted all my life--at least it seems so! My mother taught me to crochet at age 9. I just had my 61st birthday and I've had a hook in my hand most of it. I recently retired and am enjoying the extra time to do my crafts. Recently, I've added beads and needle tatting to my crochet pieces and I like the results. I'd be glad to send a picture of my latest flower aghan with beads and tatting to anyone interested. Now I'm learning Irish crochet to add to them as well.

Got 3 blue ribbons and 5 red ones at the Fair...one for every item I entered. It is soooooo much pleasure to make things and teach others to do it, too. I'm new to the forum and looking forward to meeting some new friends this way. Patti

Hi Patti! <img src="/images/graemlins/rolling.gif" alt="" />

It is a pleasure to meet you, and oh my goodness it sounds like I could learn a lot from you. I just started crocheting and have almost completed my 2nd scarf. Would you suggest a good book/magazine to get started with? Have a good one!

I have a question about stitches. I am in the process of making a blanket ( newbie here ) and using half double crochet stitch. Now, is it better to wrap yarn around hook and inset hook into the v OR should I go under the V? Some of my blanket looks holey. Is this normal with this stitch? ANd what is really the proper way? Into the center of the V or under the V? Should I mix up my stitches and incorporate double crochet also? Thanks
