Thanks for the welcome Trish. I just had to become involved in this forum after reading the posts. I am from Texas and we are very proud of our former Governor, now President.
Drea99, I would absolutely love to respond to your comments, but first disclose your location. I am absolutely appalled at the comments made by non-Americans on this post. I do not feel justified to trash the current leaders of other countries. As a result, I will not waste my time responding to comments made by non-Americans about our President and our Government. So, Drea99, I really hope you are a citizen of the good ole' USA because I am anxious to present an opposing view to your comments.
Brooke Brooke, she is a military wife, like me. And neither of us support Bush or the war in Iraq. In fact, there is an ever-growing backlash against Bush and Iraq in the US military, which I've tried to point out in other forums here before, but all the Bush supporters don't want to believe it. Texas gal,
In case it matters, I'm an American in Norwich, UK, and I'm here because of George Bush and the last two stolen elections. I saw what was happening to our country and I'm old enough to have seen it once before, when what it took to finally walk people up was the US government killing some of our own kids at Kent State. I hope it doesn't take that much this time.

Many of the troops are working poor. And they're in locations where its really hard to get even the basics of life. Why deny them the basics? We don't deny them to prison inmates sitting cozily in our over-priced jails.

Loveapple, believe it or not, here in the UK, the majority of the young men working as bullet fodder are grossly underpaid - salaries here in the UK are below the national average.... whatever your opinion of war, armies and the generl situation, anone putting their life on the line for a principle of freedom and safety deserves more.... even our firefighters and nurses are grossly underpaid. It's a disgrace......THis is why the government here has bowed to pressure to exempt soldiers from being taxed, or has made alowances....

I don't think troops in the UK are badly paid, neither are nurses or firefighters. Two of my sisters are nurses! Our troops are not conscripted and I very much doubt that many of them enlisted for the principle of freedom. Many whinged that they didn't expect to be sent to war! <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> They had enlisted to get a trade!

Brooke So according to you, unless you're a citizen of a specific country, you have no right to discuss anything to do with that country. That means that nobody in the US has any right to comment on anything that happens in Israel, or Iran, or Lebanon, or North Korea, or Afghanistan, or Iraq, or any other place in the world. George Bush obviously disagrees with you, since he's always talking about these places. I seem to recall the phrase "axis of evil" being bandied about by him in reference to several of these other countries and their leaders. I, for one, think this board is so great because we have all sorts of people from all sorts of places with all sorts of opinions all saying what they really think, and not sugar-coating anything, like most people are apt to do in everyday life. Somehow I thought freedom of expression is what the good ole' USA is all about? If you want to respond to any of my comments, please feel free. If you don't want to, that's fine too. I'm leaving it up to you - call it freedom of the internet if you like...

The NIMBY attitude ("not in my back yard" or "everyone else has problems but not me") prevails with many people.

As non Americans we have every right to have our say about the mess Bush is making of Iraq, and every other country in which his regime has interfered!

Bill Clinton chased women for 8 years. George Bush is true to his wife. Put the marital issues aside and judge your president according to how he runs his country please. And, Trish, I have to say I didn't like the way you countered this topic by attacking another person's religion. The Muslims have their own beliefs, we have ours. And I'd just like to that however we call Him --- Allah, God of Abraham, Buddha --- we all still believe that there is just one God who moves forces around us. Won't that be enough for us to just live in peace without bickering about religious beliefs?!
