He he your so sweet... . Ok, I tried to slip st in chain one, once that is done then I skip everything else between and go to next chain 1. Correct? So the first two top petals get crushed into one big flower petal right? Which makes the decrease? Then do ONE petal (bridge) than go straight to next chain 1. The Chain ones are between the flowers right? It's what's connecting them? Like this...(chain 1 are the star) *flower*flower*. Are my petals at the bottom supposed to be squashed, cause they are buldging a little. I just want to make sure I'm at the right chain, it looks a long way from where I am. :rolling: Don't worry, I'll get it eventually....lol.

You want to sl st over until you are INBETWEEN the last 2 dtr c that was made in row two (see picture #2, see where the hook is ? You want to get to the sc that is in the middle of the last 2 of the dtr c before you start row 3. *****Remember row 2 was ended by putting a dtr c in last st, your hook needs to be at the top just exactly like row 2******* This may be the problem, make sure you are ending row 2 correctly.

I think I got it now! I did complete the 3 dtr and chain one on the last petal. But what was so confusing for me was the slip stitch. For one, I didn't know how to do it and didn't know that I have to keep going through each chain to get to where I need to be. I thought I just go straight to chain one from where I was. Secondly, by chain 1 you mean each chain one that I made in row two, right? Including the ones I made for the chain 5? Not just chain 1 correct? Did I get it or I'm I just going coo coo? Maybe I'll just stick to boxes...

AHAA!!!!!! ok now I know why it is so confusing. What I mean is you do row 3 only in the ch 1's that were made to seperate the dtr c . You do not do ANY dtr c into the ch 5's that were made. Thank You  for helping me and hopefully I have not confused you more.

Ok, Eva, one more time please. I slip stitch all the way across through all stitches on top of the flower to get to chain one? You said that chain 1 are loops that seperate the dtr c. Which I understand. But you said earlier, "You want to get to the sc that is in the middle of the last 2 of the dtr c before you start row 3" To get to chain one wont I need to slip stitch passed that till I get next to chain one. Then once I get to chain one do I sc into it? Then that's when I cont. with pattern ch 1 sc in same space... Thanks again, I really appreciate your help, I know I've taken up a lot of your time! But I think these are the last of my questions, atleast for tonight

You are not bothering me so don't ever think that  we are making progress. I am going to refer you back to picture two again, see where my hook is ? You want to get to the sc that is INBETWEEN the two clusters. See how they sort of look like mountain tops ? ^ ^ ^ well you want to get in between them / " / I know this is a terrible drawing but see where I have put the quotation mark, that is where you need to get to inbetwwen the peaks. Would you like me set up a chat and we could go over it step by step, I don't mind at all.

That would be great but u know what? I think my work looks more like row 3 than row 2. Your row 3 is upside down compared to my row 2...lol..u get it? Let me ask you sometihng, in row 2 you said, "2 dtr c in next sc, ch 5 sc in same sc, ch 5, 2 dtr c, ch 1" All of that goes into the same SC, right? Cause that's what I did. Then I moved onto next SC. I'm going to back track...and stare at your pictures for a while. let me get back to you later

EVA:
Thank you for this pattern, I have made the shawl and it is beautiful!

I am interested in making another for my grandmother, but I want to modify the pattern slightly and I would appreciate your advice.
My grandmother is a petite lady and the shawl that I made is LONG, much too long for her. I want to make it shorter and still preserve the point at the bottom. I also would like to make the "petals" longer for a more open flower. I understand that to make the petals longer, I would just yo and chain additional length, but how will that effect the overall length?

I sorry, let me know if this is unclear! I am happy to haer anyone's advice!

Thank you so much!
