I would like to make the shawl but eliminate row 3 throughout. I have gotten the center work right but am having a little difficulty trying to figure out when and which row to decrease. If you can give this a try and can figure it out I would greatly appreciate it.

You can not leave out row 3 or the shawl will not turn out correctly. Please see Haas Designs it is very similar to my pattern, this might help you to see how it is made.

EVA!! I'm new at crocheting and I think I managed to get up to the second row. What I'm confused about is in the end of the second row, the fourth (last) flower petal is not connected with bottom petal from the first row. Thats the first problem...but maybe this is what fixes that problem ???? Row 3: sl st over to ch 1. First of all, can you explain how to make a slip stitch and how to get it to the first chain? Where is chain 1? Wouldn't that be on the other end? I can't figure it out...THANX! You'll probably hear a lot from me..lol.

No problem , feel free to ask and ask, I don't mind helping  Make sure to TURN your work at the end of row 2!! ok if you take a look at the second picture, see where the hook is ? It is at the top of the very last dtr c that you made in row 2, you need to get over to the LAST ch 1 you made in row 2 and in order to do that you sl st(insert hook into required stitch, yo, pull thru required stitch and loop on hook) into the top of the dtr c. You should now be right next to the necessary ch 1, now sl st into it. You are now where you need to be to begin row 3. My basic concept was to make say dashes ----- and then the next row you make the ^^^^ positioned directly over the allready made dashes, with me so far ? Now on the next row we make dashes only in between the ^^^^ and that is what makes it decrease into a triangle. Hope I have not confused you more. If I have then please let me help un confuse you. :music:

Hi, thanks for the quick response! I still don't understand. You said, get over to the LAST ch 1 you made in row 2, wouldn't that be where I am? The loop that's currently on my hook would be the last chain 1 I finished in row 2 right? Or do I not chain one at that moment upon completing 3 dtr and go directly to the last chain 1 I made? Which would be directly to the top left of the left flower petal that I just finished? Lol. I hope this makes sense. Thanks!

Ok, tell me if I'm wrong....you said "insert hook into required stitch, yo, pull thru required stitch and loop on hook." So, I didn't chain one after last petal and inserted hook into the last ch 1 that I made. yo and pulled thru chain and loop on my hook. That brought two petals together making one. Then you said, "You should now be right next to the necessary ch 1, now sl st into it." SO "HUH??" Right now I'm in chain one. Do I sl st into it again?

You do ch 1, this puts a "finish" on the dtr c so now you are basically at the top of you last dtr c right ? sl st into it, sl st into the next ch 1 and you are ready to go.

Ok, I'll try that. But just to be sure, in row 3, Am I only making one petal then moving over to next chain 1? I'm sorry Eva, I'm completly new at this!

Please don't be sorry, I want to make the pattern as easy as possible and I want to get it right so by you telling me where you have a problem you are really helping me  I just had a bright idea, Hopefully I am not confusing you more. Take a look at the 2nd picture see how you made sort of like mountains or peaks ? With row 3 what you want to do is put sort of "bridges" from one mountain/peak top to the other. Does that help ?
