It is truly a monstrosity isn't it. I reckon they should use that display in schools. I think it would put teenagers off sex for life.
saying that, I don't think it would be a good idea to traumatise so many youngsters!
saying that, I think I'm traumatised! Can anyone direct me to a good psychiatrist.........
I remember having to watch a video in biology and it was of a woman giving birth (I was about 15 at the time). I remember thinking, there is no way on earth I am ever going to go through that. That sculpture simply intensifies that feeling.
There are some things you just can't "unsee". I imagine that, for a bloke watching a bloody, mucus covered baby being squeezed out of his partners [censored] probably leaves the worst image he could ever have in his mind. And I imagine that the next time he looks at her bits that image plays over and over again in his mind. Not exactly very sexy is it?
It would be good to hear some "yes I was there when she gave birth" accounts from men and to know what effect it had on their sex lives or sexual opinion of their wives

goduko, i have heard some of my friends' husbands talking about the birth experience. they said they regret having looked. that it freaked them out pretty much. but they've had more kids, so i guess it didn't freak them out completely. thank goodness the hoo ha has lots of elasticity. but still. OUCH!
i saw the statue and thought at first it looked like my cat when she had her first (and only)heat. it's just a very odd thing to immortalize in sculpture. kind of like those pregnant belly casts. if i were going to have a cast of my belly made, i'd have done it when my stomach was still flat. it would also be preserving a moment in time that will never be relived. lol.
anyway, i've always wanted to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood, but things didn't work out for me. i guess now i can experience it all vicariously through britney spears?
btw, did you read some of the comments at the linked website? rofl

Scary, isn't it? And what does it say about the rabid pro-life movement (note the "rabid" as I myself believe abortion is wrong, just not that it should be illegal) that they choose Britney Spears--a woman who became famous for being slutty and who now seems to be taking the cake for a level of trashiness that would do Jeff Foxworthy proud--as their role model?
(and why her, if they have to do this? There are plenty of celebrity women who are perfectly classy who have kids. Why not Jane Seymour, for example? Not only did she have kids, she had TWINS, and wouldn't that be like DOUBLE pro-life for them?)

The greatest art is that which imitates life. So said Plato.
I find this statue intriguing, beautiful even. I don't care who it's supposed to be, but there is much there to be contemplated.
You all have completely missed the point on the pro-life aspect. This artist is known for satire and mocking. His last sculpture was of Ted Williams frozen head.
The human body is not ugly. And the statue is a joke on everyone. He is getting so much free press and his talent is......manipulation of everyone. Art should make you think and talk.
So yes. This is true art.
