I would say Benoit, but I'm not sure he would go back.
I guess the thing that we have to remember is that this is a WWE owned production now. If Vince says you are moving to a different program. RAW to Smackdown, Smackdown to RAW, or either to ECW, the wrestler isn't going to have too much say in it. Se7en

True about Benoit. I just think they need another, more current, big name to bring in, besides RVD. Rhino could be it, rather than Edge or Benoit, but on the WWE roster now, Edge was the first one I thought of. I think Smackdown needs Benoit more than Raw needs Edge, also.

I think Edge is really coming along as a main eventer. I am surprised how well they turned him into someone worth carrying the title, seeing where he was standing a short time ago in the Hardy/ Dumas triangle.
The only thing that I wonder about, company wise, is he is coming off quite well and you know what normally happens then. HHH gets the spotlight and the up and coming gets to step down and sometimes to another show. Batista, Benoit and Orton were all there at some point and then drafted right after.

Hey Se7en. I agree that ECW is owned by Vince and if he say's you are going to such and such a brand, a lot of the wrestlers don't have a choice. But I also feel some could talk Vince out of it. Remember the Clique? HBK, Trips, Nash, all those guys kinda banded together, and actually set their own agenda and made certain things happen. So, for the most part, you are right, but there are a select few who hold veto power.

The ones who hold the veto powers are the ones Vince wants on RAW to start with. The only other one who would have such "power" would be the Undertaker, but seeing how he barely wrestles anymore, I couldn't see him being able to handle ECW. For that fact, I don't see HHH or HBK being in constant hardcore matches at this time in there life.

Hmmm. Dang, Se7en, you got one up on me. I have to reluctantly agree with you. That was a bit of fact that was so obvious I overlooked it.

To cover an earlier mentioned topic about TNA suffering, I don't feel that would be the case. TNA is it's own thing seperate from ECW. I think if they stay focused on the X-Division & not so much on blast from the past wcw "names" they would be wonderful competition for WWE & ECW. I think ECW will help them improve their game & not let double j become TNA's HHH anymore.
& as far as Edge going over, as I do not see him going, if he does, it doesn't mean he has to be "hardcore". Not all of ECW was all about using every damn weapon you could. It was hardcore in the sense that the workers went out & gave everything they could. They wouldn't hold back if they could help it. They didn't usually have a 3 minute match time constraint. It was just about putting on the best wrestling & brutal action.
Hopefully Vince won't just up & send worthless people over there. God knows Heyman would pull out what's left of his skullet if he had mark henry, snitsky, etc. I just hope it's only 2-3 days a week these guys have to travel or wrestle. Because on WWE's schedule, they definitely wouldn't be able to do what was done without cutting their careers short.

Hello DPu, it is a pleasure to see you here.
I agree with Edge not jumping. He is too valuable to WWE. And I agree that ECW was and is far more than cheese graters and cookie sheets.
It looks like the first non ECW guy to be pushed is none other than CM Punk. I think he is a perfect fit and will get over quickly.
From what I gathered, there won't be "guest" wrestlers from WWE on the ECW show. It will be as separate as possible.
And I think RVD will challenge champ JBL on the PPV since this works perfectly into the storyline about how much JBL hates ECW.
Just an opinion not a spoiler.

Hey DPu,
I agree with you that ECW wasn't only about hardcore as possible over the top action. But, looking back in rememberance, when I think of ECW, that's what I remember. But, if one was to remember that classic series of matches (I think series is wrong word, I think they had two) between my hero Eddie Guerrero and Dean Melenko. They wrestled some of the finest, technical wrestling ever seen in an ECW arena, and didn't resort to the hardcore stuff. They didn't have to. The other wrestlers that made hardcore their calling card, that was for them. Eddie and Dean, and I am sure quite a few others, didn't have to either. Not that any wrestler has to, but Eddie and Dean were magical and didn't need the added excitment of using cheese graters to illicit a pop and following. Their technical mastery was more entertaining. And the fans appreciated that.

Yes, but for every Jerry Lynn - RVD match, there were three hardcore weapons matches. When you mention ECW, the average fan automatically thinks hardcore.
Sure there were some phenomenal technical matches but nine out of ten fans went there and tuned in to see Raven trying to destroy Tommy Dreamer or New Jack leaping off a fifty foot balcony onto someone on a table.
They wanted to see the Dudleys set a table on fire and put someone through it. They wanted to see Sandman cave someone's skull in with a kendo stick or watch Sabu wrap someone up in barbed wire.
Most of the fans tuned in to see a scaffold match or a cage match or a barbed wire ring match more than they wanted to see Taz put Steve Corino in a tazz mission or a tazplex.
While it was nice to see Jerry Lynn, RVD, Chris Benoit and Super Crazy fly and flip around the ring, the fans loved to bring in cheese graters, cookie sheets and mailboxes to hand to the wrestlers.
Say what you want about watching Benoit and Malenko but ECW epitomized hardcore wrestling and will mostly be known for that.
