I saw that post, and knew that that dude was ka-ra-zeee. He also asked if we were dirty because we got sterilized. *snort* Some people take it toooo far with the whole so-called "pro-life" thing.

If God wanted me to have kids, I think he would've given me a personality more suited to it (besides, I suspect that his purpose for me is not only to remain CF, but single as well. I don't yet know why). Fundies insist that it's the job of all women to stay home and have as many kids as possible. If we're all supposed to be the same, then why didn't God MAKE us all the same? And why not make us all into mindless drones that are carbon copies of each other and that don't mind wiping @sses and noses and cleaning house all day, rather than unique, individual, intelligent beings with our own personalities?

I love the people who say birth control is a sin because it's subverting God's plan. And those who say "if God doesn't want me pregnant, I won't be." Yep, I'm sure God wanted Susan Smith and that 14-year-old crack whore down the street to be pregnant. Besides...I don't know why THEIR faith is so little, but I figure God, who made the sun moon and stars, can certainly take on a little bit of birth control, and if he wants me pregnant, he can make me pregnant, even if I were to have a hysterectomy. Oh they of little faith. I would laugh at them if it weren't so sad.

This is my first time to this board...what a hot topic!! Guess this is a good time to bring this up..has anyone seen the documentary on the discovery channel about the woman (I think she's in Utah) and her husband who have had 15 children and are working on the 16th?? They live in a little house and rely on donations for their food..shop at Goodwill for clothes and they cart them around in a school bus that was donated by the town. They don't work..I guess the father preaches on the joy of having hundreds of children and of course the mom is busy cranking them out...she says she will only quit when the good Lord has her body stop having children.

You sure pinned this one down freespirit. Haven't been here in a while, but since I posted before about my vasectomy at the ripe old age of 30, I guess I'm in the sinner crowd too. I can't figure for the life of me these pro birth-ers reasoning. There seems to be no logic or common sense in their silly little heads. It is so easy to "encourage" others to bear more humans, but they don't get the hard to reason out consequences that follow. Use of resources, which are last I knew, finite. And of course as you say the ever popular public assistance to "help" them get by because THEY CAN'T. Lets paint a not so pretty picture of an overpopulated planet with the basics of food and water lacking in supply. Oh wait, that's already happening on the african continent.... breeding out of control and not many resources to support the population. Don't want them to be sinning now do we? If pro- births want to show the kids a neat little experiment, put 2 rabbits in a fenced in yard - male and female - and do not allow more that what will grow for food and see what happens after a while... Go forth and procreate until your society degenerates isn't what I think "god" intended. That's why he/she/it gave humans the ability to think and reason...at least some of us.

I've heard of these people too.

So does that mean that if I go off birth control and start popping out offspring like a brood mare, I can get a bunch of freebies from the community?

Wow! I love free stuff! <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Actually, it's not uncommon for young women to deliberately get pregnant to secure a council house in areas of the UK. It's really sad. The alleviation of social deprivation and lack of opportunity should never be motives for having children, in my opinion.

best wishes - Jane
